I'm not finding that on the Maggards website.

The Mongoose has significantly infringed upon my straight razor regime. I was a 100% straight razor shaver until the goose arrived. It is fast, simple, very efficient, wonderful results, and no stropping. It's making me a lazy shaver. I bought the Mongoose when I was impaired with an eye problem which forced me to put down the straights for awhile. Otherwise, I would have never enjoyed this razor. A silver lining I would say. It is the only razor I use other than straights. That says a lot.

There will be more on the website in the next couple of weeks and should be a regular item going forward.

You know the more I do this the more I think prep is the key to a great shave. I always face lather and always spend a full minute scrubbing my face with the brush before I get to shaving. Something to consider before condemning a blade or razor.

I agree. I have also found I get better shaves using the Mongoose with a super slick and somewhat thinner lather than usual. YMMV

Indeed. I was on the Alumigoose waiting list and before going live with it via Maggards, they have been giving listed names the opportunity to purchase via a secret link. Nice marketing ploy, exclusivity probably drives sales :s

They said that they check orders against the list, so distributing the link wouldn't help even if only to a single person. Perhaps I shouldn't have posted until it is on public offer or I actually had it in my hand?

    The Alumigoose has landed.

First impressions: This thing is light, really light: 1.8 oz vs 5.0 oz for the stainless steel Mongoose. Besides the difference in material, the head has had about an eighth of an inch removed from the back side and the corners rounded. The handle is hexagon shaped and has 5 grooves cut into it.

Here is a comparison between the Alumigoose and the SS 'Goose:

The difference in the width of the head can clearly be seen below:

Another impression: Black razors are difficult to photograph.

The difference is immediately apparent when the razor is handled. Where the SSM (Stainless Steel Mongoose) feels massive and heavy, the AG2 (Alumigoose 2) feels nimble and agile, almost like an injector razor.

I have never used a 1st generation Alumigoose but my understanding is that they are more aggressive than the SSM. That was certainly not my first impression with the AG2. Loaded with a Kai Titan Mild it was quite smooth and, well, mild - much more so than the same blade in the SSM. I'm looking forward to trying a Feather Pro in it tomorrow.

It's only been one shave, but I like this aluminum Mongoose a lot.

I saw a photo on TSN comparing AG1 and 2, and it indeed seems that blade exposure has been reduced significantly. In the thread there, a couple of guys cite the change in blade preference. I.e., if the Super Pros were not your thing for the first version (or, as in my case, for the SSB2), one may try again with this one.

    Shave of the day

Pre- Hot shower, Trichomania shampoo cake from Lush
Soap/cream- uberlather with Proraso white shaving soap and Nivea original shaving cream and some vegetable glycerine
    Brush- Proraso boar brush
    Razor- AlumiGoose
Blade- Feather Artist Club Professional Super
Post- Cold water rinse, alum block, Humphreys witch hazel, Old spice original aftershave lotion, Proraso eucalyptus and menthol aftershave balm andTalika Photo-hydra day cream

I started with the 5th shave on my Feather AC pro super but it was tugging so much. Weird. Between fourth and fifth shave something happens it seems haha.

I switched to e new Feather super and wow.. The difference! 4 might be the magic number hehe. I'm could have done a better job though, I got some razorburn and I nicked myself juuuuuust a little bit. These super blades are SHARP!

After this blade I'm putting a Pro blade in to see how 3-4 shaves are. I wanna see if it's smarter to get the a little bit cheaper blade or if I should stick to the super.

I would like to get a 100 or 200 pack of these. And that would drive down the cost even though it would be a big clump sum =P

Sometimes I forget what a great razor the Mongoose is...
Pulled it out for this morning's shave and loaded a fresh Pro blade in it..and the result was one pleasant shave and a a great way to start the day :D

Im more impressed each time I go back to the Goose.
Ive been using it with a Maggards MR8 handle. Embracing the weight seems to work.....

    Alumigoose 2 Mongoose
    Feather AC Pro (1)
    Maggard Razors synthetic brush
Chiseled Face Groomatorium Ghost Town Barber soap & aftershave

My second shave with the Alumigoose and first with it loaded with the Feather Pro resulted in a smooth close shave - and still on the mild side. Tomorrow I'll try the Super Pro. In the stainless steel Mongoose the Super Pro was over the top aggressive (yes, there was blood) but I'm expecting this to be a much more mellow experience.

Is there a difference in the aggressiveness or alumigoose 1 and 2? someone mentioned version 2 has less gap and is milder. Can someone confirm that please? Is there a link or a picture?

I can not compare the AlumiGoose V1 and V2 but I can say with confidence that the V1 AlumiGoose is slightly more aggressive than my B2 Stainless Mongoose.
