I don't know how or why but I found some in stock at Italian Barber. $10 higher than normal but, hey a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

 

Yeah, they're still selling at $59.99. Ugh....but it really is a nice aftershave...and 400ml will last quite a while.....

 

How can you let it sit and not take the Mongoose out for a test shave? Load a Feather Pro Guard in the Goose and let it go. Congrats on your new Mongoose! IMHO it's a shave changer.

Maybe to guard against RAD?
Perhaps if I don't open the box, the next time that RAD comes on I'll just go over to the box and remind myself that I already have a "new shiny" left to open. Right? Just like on Christmas when you feel that the excitement is over but then realize that you still have another gift under the tree!

i can proudly tell, that i´m from now on a VERY PROUD Owner of the Mongoose.

Yesterday evening i received a Mail from the Mongoose Team, which wrote me, that i´m on the Waiting List since Beginning of August. If i would like to have a Mongoose out of Batch 2. They have a very Limited Stock. You know what happend,do ya? I´ve ordered my Mongoose Batch 2 in Satin. Now i´m so happy and proud to get this awesome Razor.

Today i received the Invoice, paid it and now...I´m happy like Hell is hot!!!

Yeah I just got a email about some batch 2's left. Don't know what I should do? What's the difference in the old ones and new ones?

 

The new version has longer locator pins that go all the way through the baseplate. Also it is only being offered with one handle choice. So if you want both handles you need to get the B2.

 

Also Batch 2 had the Legend polished handles as well

 

I love the look from Batch 2 more than Batch 3. The shorter aligenment pins look much more clean and attractive to me.

The look of the head is "smoother".

 

Were there any changes from "B1" to "B2"?

 

To my knowledge there were only 50 made in Batch 1. Batch 1 had no satin finish option. I'm not sure of any other changes.

I broke my 30-day Focus on OCs to take my first shave with the Mongoose that arrived a couple days ago.
(I blame @RaZorBurn123 for making me do this today!)

I can't think of a better way to describe the experience.

I've only been traditional wetshaving for 6 months, using only vintage razors - DEs, SEs, injectors, etc. This was my first 'modern' razor.

Everyone talks about the weight, so I knew to expect it.
The head is unique and I used advice from @clint64 to approach the angle like an injector. Also used his advice for well-hydrated lather.

It all fell neatly together - a smooth

• stroke - a razor this heavy demands no pressure. It seems to let you know that your hand is just there to guide it and set the angle,
• angle - finding the angle is much like using an injector - you start with its angled face against yours and tip the handle from there as needed,
• glide - as advised, I had no issue using a slightly thinner lather than I usual use and had no glide/cushion issues at all. No irritation.

With a two-day growth, I chose a three-pass shave.
I think I could have just used two passes (XTG/ATG) but I wanted to extend the shave and get more feel for the razor.

The result was as good or better than any first shave with any other razor I've used.
Of all the razors I've used, the Gillette New LC is as close as I've come to a favorite razor. The handful of shaves I've had with it have been near flawless. The Mongoose, after one shave, demands its place alongside the New and a lot more time from me to realize it's full potential.
I intend to do a 30-Day Focus on it in November.
