    The razor has arrived! Great PIF NoobShaver. I will report back with a shave update. I've never had the opportunity to shave with an open comb so like you mentioned, I'll go easy on it.:happy088:

    So tonight I broke out the Muhle Pinsel r89 that I picked up on the PIF from NoobShaver (thanks NoobShaver!). I used a badger brush, feather blade and Ye olde barbershop soap. Its the first open comb razor I have used and I can say that the shave turned out very nice. Yeah, my face feels a little more tender with possible slight razor burn but I don't notice much difference from my Merkur 34c or 59 fatboy. When they decided to go to the closed combs, was it because of this greater exposure presented by the open comb or was there some other reason?

    I think they changed manufacturers. That M.P. r89 was made by Fatip. It looks identical to current production Fatip razors.

    And keep in mind that the comb does not affect blade exposure. There are very mild open combs out there and very aggressive closed combs/ safety bars.
