I know you're serious about coffee. You may find the above interesting. Yerba is the leaves of a certain holly bush. It's brew is high in theobromine, caffeine, b vitamins, antioxidants and magnesium. Consumed like tea or coffee in S America and the Levant.

 

Taste can also be adjusted by adding herbs like mint to the top of the pile.

 

When the cup is exhausted, I sling the spent leaves into the yard or compost. Zero bad waste. No filters or anything beyond wet leaves.

 

Yerba is what I sip as I muse upon our reality.

 

How much are some Yerba leaves?

 

A kilo (2.2lbs) of a mass market brand like Cruz de Malta or Nobleza Gaucha? Not much.

The initial cold pour creates an air pocket under the pile. It's essential to proper water flow. Lots of technique....

Oh, that's fine and I'm sure there's a reason. Just don't call it "blooming."

 

After a nuclear holocaust, only fruitcakes and cockroaches survive the horrors. Then the cockroaches starve.

 

Any of you fruitcake haters that receive an unwanted fruitcake, just send them to me and Charlie.

 

I don't actually hate it, but I love the joke.

 

I ponder whether I've been settling for fake fruitcake and not even knowing it.

 

Karma isn't judged or determined in a transactional basis.
