There's bound to be corruption of the truth by a convenient idea that is simple even when faced with with obvious facts that have come to light that may be newer and harder to understand. The falsehoods can be a comfort to the uninitiated, leading to some corruption, but the facts are the facts.

Here's a musing on what I keep fearing WILL be a reality soon-when the Boston Marathon winners cross the finish line, some reporter will say, "Congrations! How do you feel, tired? A little out of breath?"

I think where the fiction occurs matters. If fiction is a fundamental assumption, then all results are likely to be misinterpreted.

My big gripe is opinions treated as fact. At the end of the day opinions are both like and unlike arseholes.

Like arseholes because everyone has one

Unlike arseholes because any opinion needs to be critically examined in detail and challenged

Forget where I heard this but it's a great approach.

Essentially nothing is true...thought this statement itself may be a lie

I'll take that as a given, since it's absolute, but a Diogenes like search for the truth is worthwhile in it's quest simply because in the long run the truth will always be easier to defend and understand.

I've been re-examining my biases lately.

A worthy pursuit indeed. I used to recommend day trading over Powerball. Upon further reflection, Powerball gives one an excuse to get a cappuccino and a National Equirer at 7-Eleven. Success is inevitable either way, but I like to enjoy the journey.

It depends on how good a person is at day trading, I guess.

Agreed. I think I'll trade tomorrow for Saturday. I'll be up for cartoons and hot chocolate at 7 a.m.

Charlie, I think it's great how you and your bride visit the kids at the hospital. Question-do you see any therapy pets there?

Speaking of cartoons, what happened? We used to have the Looney Tunes cartoons. They were cleverly written to appeal to both kids and adults, but I'm sure some folks would find certain things in them offensive today. The cartoons these days are duds by comparison.

Hello Paul and thanks. We often see therapy dogs. The kids and the staff love them.

What a great concept that is!!! A nice memory of my Mom is when I said "If I'm in the hospital for a few days or longer, please get me a dog visitor".. she said "Oh, you;ll have one all right!".

I told you about what I did every Saturday morning while in college, right? Turned on the Bugs Bunny, Road-Runner Hour", but only for the beginning theme song. When the song ended, I flipped off the TV and headed to brunch :). MEEP MEEP

The other day, there was a story in the news about how Scott Pruitt, head of the EPA, had replaced is Government-issued vehicle with an uprated Suburban that included "bullet-resistant seat covers".

Bullet-resistant seat covers? That's a real thing? It sounds like something the dealer tries to upsell you on as part of a "protection package", including floor mats and undercoating.

How do they even work? It seems like they would only be effective if someone was trying to shoot you *through* a seat. Am I missing something?

The 1988 film "They Live" just might be a documentary.
