Pleasantly surprised but waiting to give a final verdict.

Loaded one up in my feather as its my daily razor and most mild.

Very smooth shave, felt very comfortable with it very quickly. Not BBS but then I don't get that with any blade and the feather unless I do 4-5 passes ATG.

Blade almost felt as if it was not cutting at all very impresive.

Reason for waiting to give final verdict only used in mild razor and I have some 'warmth' on my neck after second shave, Nothing bad and no rash but will see how it pans out.

    So far...

My first shave w. a Voskhod was in a Hoffritz slant. Great shave. Very close. But giving a close shave in this razor isn't a real feat! Next was a Star Featherweight, then a Hoffritz OC Travel razor. Neither shave was very impressive. Not close at all. I actually ended up taking the blade out and using it in the Slant for a final pass. Now, it was my first shave w. either of those razors, so I'm sure I need to learn their specific angles, etc. I'll work on that, then come back to the Voskhod's in them.

Ok I see what has been happening. The listing on Ebay is misspelled. They are listed as Voshkod instead of how they appear on the package as voskhod.

So I'm a newbie has only used 5 dif types of blades, Red IP, Derby, Shark Super Chrome (thanks to a generous PIF!) Lord Stainless, and Dorco 300.

Is it worth it for me to buy a pack of 50 of these, are they that good??? Or should I get another sampler that has some better blades than my current setup, stuff like Astra, Feather, Gillete 7's etc...

    What do you guys think?

Deffo get a sampler. I would not go buy a 50 pack of anything without trying it first.

I would suggest throwing in a pack of Feathers as well. Then with the Voskhods, 7 O'Clocks, and the Feathers you have some great blades to judge the others against.

Maybe a DIY sampler pack is in order! Thanks for the advice. Sorry to sidetrack/hijack the thread!

Here is my experience so far...

    Last week:
I put 6 3+ pass shaves in on a tech with one of these blades. Face was BBS, neck wasn't. But then again, my neck is very difficult to get BBS and often ends in irritation if I really try. Throughout the 6 shaves, the quality of the shave slowly faded with the 5th shave not being that much worse than the first shave. However, on the 6th shave I could feel a little tugging and there was a little irritation so the blade was tossed.

    This week:
I have loaded a blade into a slant. Again, my face is BBS. However, my neck is getting nicks and there is noticeable stubble left on the neck. Granted, it has been a long time since the slant was in rotation; however, I expected a closer shave than this. I may pop this blade in another razor for the rest of the week.

Conclusion thus far... in a tech the blade is comfortable but doesn't shave as close as an Astra or 7 O'Clock Black. I would suggest people try these blades in a sampler before investing in 100 blades.

However... seeing that I did purchase 100 blades...... See the freebie section, I will give away 4 packs.

After some time with the Feather and improved technique, tonight I came back to the Voskhod... I'm even more impressed then I was when we first met. Unlike the Feather, I just can't feel the Voskhod in the razor, it's so stealth yet sharp enough for my coarse stubble. The Feather immediately let me know when I was using even the slightest wrong angle, as I could feel it dragging along my face... but not with the Voskhods - these are a lot more forgiving.

I really like the Feathers but I'll stick with the Voskhods combined with trying new blades for every-day shaves. The Feather will be my "fast" blade, when I need a fast quality shave.

    WOW... 101 posts :D

I recieved a gift of five voshkods in the mail this week from stingraysrock/jeff and gave them a go today. I will admit they are pretty aggressive but a fine shave similar to a feather. I got a little burn and one nick with my SS. I think Ill give it a go tommarow. I went BBS in three but really should have stopped at two.
