I made lightbox with a cardboard box, some tissue paper, a razor blade and a lot of scotch tape. Need to fix and improve a couple things but all in all turned out pretty well. here are some shots I took using my new contraption.
Ok here is something that is not a pen that you guys and gals might like. This is what I got from Spain.
Dude - awesome light box! Love the carbonesque (that straight isn't too shabby either). Tell us about your lights, please. Where did you find them? And yeah, your pens - always very photogenic! :laugh042
The lamps I got at a thrift store, 7 dollars for all 3 of them. The bulbs were the most expensive. They are 35 watt 5500K CFL bulbs from Alzo digital. It's still not bright enough(they make an 85W version too, I will get those next time), I may add a second light above the box. I need to tape off all the cardboard that is visible inside the box and find something shiny for the bottom to enhance the pics. I am working on getting a yellow lamy safari so I can complete my collection of yellow and orange pens. Oh, and you might see a family of VP's sometime in the near future too.
Wow... the 85 Watt CFL 5500k bulbs weigh in at one pound each! Thanks; that's what I'll pick up when it's time. I left my light box behind in my old home and need to fetch it the next time I'm up there. One "must have" accessory is a piece of white poster board to make a continuous curve starting at the bottom front and ending at the back top. A great $3 addition. I like the "something shiny for the bottom idea. Smoked glass would be good... Seven bucks was a great price for the lamps.
depending on the lamp you use, you might need socket extender for the bulbs, but don't buy them from alzo, you can get the same thing from home depo for 1.20 or something like that. I have some posterboard somewhere, I lost track of it 2 or 3 moves ago I was going to use the granite tile I use for lapping my stones, but the box is a smidge too small, I might need to work on a v2.0 already. Yeah, I didn't want to pay 120 dollars for 2 SV lamps. These work fine enough for me.
This is my cr@ppy camera, it's a Fuji F30 of F31(I have both and don't recall which I am using now) I have one that takes better macro's but I was too lazy to dig it out. These are just point and shoot, no DSLR for me...................yet.
