It was a lot of fun. I think everyone should participate in these things at least once. It's a lot of fun!

Well gents, tonight I cleared up my rotation to use my first NOS Gillette Super Stainless blade made in the Czech Rep. On the envelope it said that these were discontinued in the 2000's, but I chose them because the copyright said 1991 (my birth year.) So now to the shave. I loaded it into my Gillette Aluminum Tech not really knowing what to expect.

I don't know if it was a combo of the razor being really mild or what, but this blade was really really smooth. There was no tugging, it didn't skip, and the first impression was pretty good. I'll shave with it again on Wednesday to see how it holds up, but so far so good. Thanks Gary!

Do you have any more information on these blades? Like specifically when they were discontinued, their general reputation, where I should keep an eye out for new ones?

Gillette moved their European equipment from plants their respective countries, France, Poland and the time Czech Republic in the latter stages of the last decade. Gillette consolidated the equipment in Russia. As to the blades, their reputation is mixed. Some like them and others do not. You may be able to find more on e-Bay or maybe in some stock from European vendors, but more than likely not since they should have cleared their stock out (closeout sales) years ago.

Hey, all! I got the box yesterday. Lots of generous folks here. More to come with pics>

However, for GDCarrington, I did give the Sunrise Supermax blades a run, and was very happy. I put one in the Superspeed, and found that it gave a nice, three pass DFS, which is good for me.

Blanka, that bbq sauce is pretty darn good. It has just the right amount of kick to it.

Not sure exactly how this works. I read the original post, but can someone give me a little more explanation. Sounds like a really cool idea. I may be interested.

If you read the original post, that's all you really need to know. Sounds complicated but it's actually quite simple.

Sign up, box comes to you full of goodies. Peruse. Pick some. Tell everyone what you took. Put some stuff in. Tell everyone what you put in. Mail it to the next person.

FWIW, it's a lot of fun. The 2012 box was my introduction to SE razors, and I also got to try several products I had heard about without buying them retail--found some keepers and some stinkers so really worthwhile. Them, you can pass on some stuff you've tried hat you don't like or don't use. It's win win. Shipping the box is fairly expensive (about $20 I think) but its pretty cheep entertainment when you get to spend hours digging through the box and sniffing stuff.
