I, for one, spent more than a sane man shoulda in '16, so I'll join the NB'17. This year will be committed to using the remaining 16 razors I have left after giving most to my middle grandson, and culling out the last of the keepers. Starting with my toggle, which has given me most triumphant shaves the last two days. If I stick to said plan, I'll keep (probably) two each injector and single edge, and (maybe) three (or four) double edge. I've more than enough blades to see me through the year; a case of Arko and a half-dozen pucks of Williams should last for as long. If I do have to make any purchases, it will be for post-shave balms. As far as razors go, I think I've gone as far as necessary. (btw...I still have the Mohawk brush in transit, and should be here Tuesday. But it was actually bought a couple of days go, so it doesn't count.)
As we get into late summer, I'll have to do an inventory to see if I can accomplish it. That's Baby Step #1.
Happy new year everyone. I am feeling fit & ready to have no buys in 2017, and really enjoy what I already have and hopefully winnow down some of my stocks. Going to be a good year in 2017 and I'm glad I'm taking on this challenge.
Count me in for NB '17. As you mentioned, "the rose has fallen off the bloom" for me as well. I still enjoy wet shaving. and will never go back to carts. But I just don't get the excitement anymore. I have been lucky enough to purchase some excellent items. These items work really well for me. Consequently, new items often fall short of my expectations. I guess I have found the pieces that work really well for me and I should stop looking. My only exception is a Kilo of Italian soap only if I run out. I would love to finish off the year and then only stock up on my favorite soaps.
I made it through today OK but it was close. See I've been eyeing a Dovo Bismarck for some time but I have 15 straight razors already 4 of which haven't even been honed yet. I definitely have the SRAD. One day at a time....
I'll give it a shot this year. I have enough gear for the duration. The only exception I will make is a bottle of Superior 70 when my current one runs out. It's the only aftershave I use.
I'm going to give it a try. I truly need nothing, and the stuff I have will outlast me. My only exception is a Timeless open comb razor. I need to pay for Christmas first, but this spring or summer I'm going to need a new toy.
I'm looking for a storage solution for the aforementioned straight razors... Some things you just gotta have..
I would like to try again this year. My only exceptions will be drugstore brand witch hazel as I use it as a splash after every shave and therefore need a lot in a year, and Geo F Trumper skin food to replace my bottle when it runs out, as I use no other aftershave. That's it. If that doesn't disqualify me, count me in.
I'm in guys. I have enough stuff to get me to retirement age and I just turned 55 I just cleared my eBay searches and watch list. I do have a custom straight in the works, but it is a birthday gift for me that I am not paying for. I am mentioning this so I don't get booted out of here when it shows up I will only be doing trades this year and intend to sell off some of the excess. Wish me luck as I have several ADs. Good luck guys! Have a great year.
