I started off with an Omega Boar hair brush. I still go back to it for harder soaps. I also have the C&E BBB (this is a great brush for the money) a Shavemac in Silvertip and a B&B Essential. All great brushes, but as starters go I think Omega is good and C&E BBB is great! +1 Let us know what you get!
