So a little while ago I found a bottle of royall Bay rhum aftershave in an antique store for 3 bucks. It was full and they wouldn't let me open it to see if it smelled good or if it was ranck. Well it was old and looked nice I figured for 3 bucks it would be worth it even if for just display. Got home and opened it and it smells amazing. I normally don't like bay rhum scent but I love this scent. I'm trying to find out a date range for when it was made and wanted to know if anyone might know. I have yet to try using it for two reasons. I don't know if it's still good. And if I run out that's it. I plan to use it for special occasions. Here is a pic of the bottle.
I enjoy several vintage aftershaves. For two reasons my suggestion is splash it on and enjoy it. First; the alcohol content of most splashes ages well so if the scent oils haven't turned it's most likely safe. Test on the inside of your elbow on sensitive skin for a reaction before your face. Second; according to my source, it's still in production so you can get more. Might want to order that back up bottle just in case.
Need help dating this bottle I'd start with some sweet talkin' and go from there. Maybe lose a couple pounds, dress really nicely... you know, that sorta thing.
Most of my relationships with bottles have been more of a one night stand sort of thing. They always seem so attractive but, trust me, you'll feel lousey the next morning.
I so try to use a different phrases ask when a specific item was manufactured. Contact the manufacturing company through their website.
Wow this got way off topic. But funny as hell. Does the new bottle still smell the same? And I will try it on the elbow as suggested. But still does anyone know about when the bottle I have was made. On another forum it has been narrowed down to between 1957-2003. That's a huge gap.
I thought the Royall fragrances were discontinued about 7 years ago? Hmm...Interesting. I'll have to look into that.
I reached out to the company and they said if I don't have the original box they couldn't even try guessing the year range. Seems like they don't even want to try to help.
