I need to buy a video camera for my upcoming trip to Ethiopia to pick up the two baby girls we're adopting. I know nothing about video cameras. We're looking for something inexpensive, easy to use, convenient to carry around, and has a decent amount of storage (or removable media or something) because we'll be there for two weeks before we have a chance to download the video to a PC. So what recommendations do you have?

find a web site that can do comparisons of brands you are considering.
    Try http://www.mycamera.com/index_dvcomp.cfm,

I'd think about a camera that writes to a cd. Or other cheap removable storage.

We have a Panasonic NV-GS 180. Panasonic makes very reliable 3CCD Kameras. A CCD is the optical chip so far I understood. The 3CCD technique makes sharper videos.
We are very satisfied with this camera. Easy to handle, light weighted and makes fine videos.
But I recommend you to have a look at it and compare it with others in a shop.
