This showed up today in the mail, I think I will use it tomorrow morning then put on a few days growth and try it again Monday morning.
Oops, it's a Merkur 39c sledgehammer. Now that I have one in my hands I understand why it is named so.
The Germans call this the "Vorschlagshammer" (Sounds worthy of Thor!) Enjoy your shaves. I'll stick with my 37C.
I had a moment of weakness and thought about trading it for something else. But the more I use it the more I like it. It is certainly a different animal in that it feels so mild but will bite like a very aggressive razor without warning if not respected.
