Too obvious...Too right...Too quality, for a disposible culture that promotes and aspires to mediocrity...And if they did, you would regret it when they marked up the price of blades 2,000%... The good news is that inspite of this commercial shaving environment, we can still get our blades and all the great TWS products that are currently available to us. I'm not complaining, Im getting the best shaves of my life right now...)
No probably about it...You nailed it... But who cares...As long as I'm getting what I need to get the shaves I want the way I want them....And having a ball hangin' out in the Den...Then I really never give that whole scene a second thought...But I'd love to see that commercial. Sparky says it has some classic footage...Of what ??? Does it show Sharpie the Gillette Parrot ?? You guys got to fill me in...I probably won't see it here in Turkey...But I'm sure somebody will put it on You-Tube.
It's great news that there is a new gillette face scraper in June, but I'm really excited about the new ikons
I got mine and have used it 3 times now gillette was kind enough to let me do the "proglide challange" and sent me a free razor. I've used it 3 times now and I must say that it's actually a really good shaver. WTG shave: Very comfortable/close/fast shave. ATG shave. Gotta be more careful here. It seems a lot easier to knick yourself with this than the last razor. So yeah, the razor does exactly what it says
They have a display up for the new razor at Target... Looks like a shrine to me. False idols and all that. I don't know why it is portrayed as some holy grail (sorry for all the religous inferences but I'm on a roll) when it is really the same thing they have been selling for years. I feel sorry for the state of shaving today. Not to dis anyone who uses the razors, just the state of affairs as it were. Where did it all go wrong??? I like things that work well, no matter when they were made or how goofily people look at you for using it. And the 5 bladed monster just doesn't work. For me, at least, and alot of other people. end of rant
The Proglide razor shaves pretty well in my opinion, the only problem is the price of cartridges, sorry Gillette, but i won't pay 5$ for a cartridges. And their Proseries products, well, the thermal scrub is totally useless, the face wash is a pretty normal face wash and the Intense Cooling lotion is great for the menthol kick but leaves the face greassy all day long. So my opinion is, the Proglide/Proseries will be a fail. Average peoples will stick to buy Sensor/Mach 3 blades.
Having tried one of the latest Schicks, the 3 blade version of the Hydro, I was somewhat tempted to try the latest Gillette as well. I noticed that there is a "manual" (non-electric) version of the Pro-Glide and hovered by the display in the store for a minute or so, thinking about it. Then I decided that I wasn't really all that curious. I am curious about how long it will be before Gillette, with great fanfare, rolls out yet another "innovative" razor. My guess is five years.
About the only thing they can do that's really innovative is make the blades from a different material. Tungsten would be an interesting material to try, though it is so hard that it would be nearly impossible to sharpen them once they were made. Ceramic blades would be great, as they would almost never dull (think ceramic kitchen knives) when used properly. For that matter, it would be nice if they made some DE blades in new materials for us. Just think... one 10-pack lasting for 6 months!
Just think how much would cost that pack lasting 6 months Thats not the way of thinking of Gillette, Gillette is all about making people buy again and again and again.
