Yes I did copy it from Jayaruh. Welcome aboard The Shave Den. There is a wealth of information to be had here. Also remember the 30 Day rule. that GD talks about it is very useful.
So my first razor is an Edwin jagger with some derby extra blades. I've shaved twice and my neck is looking rough lol. I'm using proraso cream with a good lather but my neck is beat up. Alum block helped tonight. Any tips or thoughts?
I'm sure others will chime in here, but I know myself the neck is a challenge area for many. Here's my best advice; - map you beard growth, especially your neck. What you think may be with the grain may in fact be across or against. - go slow at first, and mind the blade angle. You may find you need to break it up into sections to ensure you're shaving proper growth patterns to avoid irritation. - start off with one or two with the grain passes at first: the result may be less than stellar, but it will give you a chance to practice and the skin to get used to De shaving. You may need a day or so break at times as well, if your lifestyle allows it. - lastly blades. Get yourself a sampler pack and try a few out. You may find a different brand is more compatible to your skin and beard. Some find derby blades great, others find them problematic. Only you can answer that for yourself, but sampling some other brands won't hurt. Great thing in all this is you get lots of chance to practice. The stuff just keeps growing back! Just don't kill yourself chasing after a baby smooth shave at the price of searing razor burn. Often I'm happy with a close comfortable shave with no irritation, and no one sees the difference, but I sure feel the difference Good luck, and keep asking questions. I'm sure you're going to find a way to enjoy your shave.
