It's a creative idea for a razor, but I can't see actually wanting to use it. I did buy one of his handles some time ago, before he was banned "over there", and used it with a Travel Tech head. It's a good match, although I haven't used it in quite a while. At one point, he was also making special replacement knobs for the Merkur Progress, which I don't have. Never having tried a complete iKon razor, don't know about QC issues first hand. Different users give different reports. It's a moot point for me, as I can't see buying any new DE razor again.
It is one great looking handle though. I'd like to see Greg just offer his handles again. As his handles are superior. I should get a New head re-plated and mount it to his Bulldog handle.
Let's keep the focus on the razor here please, and leave the hard feelings about other forums at the TSD doorstep and not bring it inside.
Right - If you were lucky enough to get an ok one, then fine, but I got a faulty one & then a faulty replacement direct from Greg. That speaks pretty clearly about the QC issues.
I actually like the design idea, something different, but as mentioned before pricing and QC are probably going to push me away again, just like the last offerings.
Pricing is the one thing that keeps me from all the razors i want. There are some razors I would want for the price tag on this. I am sure there will be some people who absolutely love this razor. Just have to wait and see when it is out.
Well if it goes over $100, I would much rather buy a Joris open comb.... I mean at least its plated with palladium...
It looks interesting, but I would never buy one. I use both sides before rinsing. The world needs more options in slants. That's what I want to see a current production of other than Merkur. a SLANT.
I'd like to try one. If they're made by investment casting, they should be much more consistent than the machined ones. I'm hoping EJ makes an OC. I may have to break down and get a Muhle OC. With any luck, EJ/Muhle will make a slant. I'd love to have a slant that doesn't lose it's finish and start rotting out, like my Merkur 37G. An EJ/Muhle OC slant would make me very happy. I don't mind the 2 razors in one concept, since I own a Neillite 400. It's one of my favorite razors.
not sure i like the 2 sided design. makes i hard to have a full 3-4 pass shave with either side for the full shave, it would make for a lot of cleaning the razor between strokes and also leave 1 side of the blade unused. not shooting the messenger, but i am not a fan of this one. i'll stick with my Feather AS-D1 for High Quality SS razors.
I see this as more if a novelty than any thing else. It's a decent idea, but I just don't see the use for it. If I need two razors for one shave I just grab an adjustable. + 1 on seeing more makers of slants on the market.
