Resistance is futile. Even though that looks more aggressive than the Fatip OC head (the old R89), I'm in love with it. I just want to know if that 2nd picture really shows it with a blade. It looks like there's almost no curve!
No blade, but it has a steep drop off doesn't it. Should be interesting, i mean the blade angle is quite shallow, and yet the blade is hanging off the edge. Normally i can tell how a razor will shave just by looking at it. But this one i have no idea, which makes it all the more fun don't you think.
Seems like it'll need a 45 degree angle similar to the Feather Stainless. And they seem to have gone from mimicking the Gillette Old Type (with the Fatip head), to a less aggressive short comb design with the previous head, to something closer to the Gillette NEW with this head. Very interested to see your review of how it shaves.
i also love the look of this new one. my R89 is my go-to razor and i have a white handled OC, that i'll be putting this head on. can't wait.
I really like the look of this and I might have to try it if EJ has a version at some point. Of course I am one of the few people who the current closed comb EJ/Muhle heads just don't work for.
Tip: buy the cheapest Merkur open comb and use the head on a Mühle handle. The Merkur open comb heads are the same as the previous generation R41 heads.
Have you tried the Fatip version also? How does that compare to the most recent version? I have used the Merkur OC razors and they are a bit mild for my tastes.
Yes, I tried the Fatip. You have to be careful and respect it at all times and you will be fine. But if you don't, it will let you know quickly. I like the R41/Merkur open combs better.
The Fatip OC is supplied with a head cap that is too small. In my opinion it doesn't adequately clamp the blade down, so a little portion sticks up and can easily draw blood. I used a Merkur head cap on mine, and even then, the Fatip OC is easily the most aggressive razor I have. Probably more aggressive than a Slant.
Interesting, i was going to get a fatip but they were sold sold out just a month or two ago. Really looking forward to this razor now, muhle recommend it's for three days of growth and beyond, so that should make for an interesting shave. Trouble is i have to time this right right, my job required me to shave at least every two days. I don't want to wind up waiting to test the razor when it arrives.
The MÜHLE R99 and Joris open comb razors reportedly share the same head design as the Fatip, if you can't find one.
Joris i can find, but obviously a lot to spend if i find i don't get on with it, everything else is rare as hens teeth, now people know they're sought after. Btw my razor is now on uk soil, so hopefully it'll be here monday if not tuesday. Shipment number: RL57425DE The item was scanned in the country of destination Great Britain. Maybe post a WTB, they do show up once in a while, I think I've seen one recently on the BST of one of the 3 sites I frequent.
Will do thanks,, i think im all spent for a while gone a bit mad in the past few weeks. My ad's come and go in phases it seems. :ashamed001
If you are interested in the new open comb head on an EJ handle, contact TESC and let them know. If they see the interest they might release one.
I am actally looking into an OC razor. But all I want is to shave with this razor 3-4 times and then send it off. I have a nice custom handle that can be adjusted to work with this head. If I enjoy it... That is my current hunt. Looking for a nice OC that I can replace my merkur head custom razor with.
Well have no fear, it has arrived but i can't shave until tomorrow as i have zero stubble, however someone else has and reported that it is indeed super aggressive. Also i got a teeny badger brush key ring with the order, love the thing Weight is 63g and it has good balance, if your familiar with the EJ89 then it'll be pretty much the same as that.
Sounds good. Look forward to a review on it. It looks aggressive in the pics a comparison to some other razors would be wonderful as well. Might keep my eye out for these.
