I did find a video showing the blade loading here. Not sure if this is Cihan though Man, I love the size of that head but my initial question is "What keeps the blade in place once it's in the razor"?
Looks like spring tension is what holds the blade in place, caused by the slight bend from snapping a DE blade in two. Looks fairly stable, me likey!
Yeah, from what I can tell of the look of the head and handle I really like it. Hoping Cihan can explain a bit more about the loading mechanism, how stable/secure the blade feels when shaving - and of course overall shaving impressions. If it all comes together I might be in for three - instead of my previously planned two razors
Is there a blade stop, or does it just fit in, wherever you finally put it?? Possibly it fits in when you push it all the way to the back, and it is stopped? I do like the look, and the fact he snaps the ends off. I want to see if it can make short work on those hairy arms of his.
It looks fantastic, the price is great. I just don't know what's keeping that blade in place. I'm really interested in seeing a review of this razor. Why did he snap the ends off the blad?
To not cut his nose whilst shaving? (I asked the very same question on TSR and received that rather logical answer )
Very sturdy looking. I don't have a problem paying for that type of quality if I was in the market for a single head stainless. That's also quite a presentation case. However I'm some what intrigued with what I've seen from Wolfman so I'm considering getting on the list. I figure a year from now I'll proably still be considering.
Hi guys. No worries. I will answer all your questions in the review. And @Darkbulb, yes that is me. I also have an English version of the video so you don't need to go crazy to understand Turkish.
Isn`t this a 2 piece razor. How about changing handles. In the video I saw the gentleman slide the blade back and forth. I`m thinking that spring tension wouldn`t allow that, maybe there is a small magnet that holds the blade, and you can slide over a magnet (just a thought). Getting anxious. Bill
Much appreciated - I think your review will make it or break it for many people that are on the fence. No pressure though Thanks again!
Color me curious. Wait, so we have to snap DE blades in half for this SE razor? In a way, I'm pleased. I've never met a razor that didn't shave well with Astra SPs.
Over on TSR, there's speculation that there is a curve in the slot, which helps to both angle and brace the blade like a 'normal' DE razor, and also holds the blade in place.
Not sure how I feel about spring tension of the blade holding it's self in place. Remarkably innovative razor or possible implement of unpredictable blood letting??? There must be stops that engage the internal cutouts in the snapped blade, since you could never insure the break would be perfectly equal to provide the proper exposure.
Hey, PoM, I believe that was me. I was wondering the same too, and they would ensure the blade remained centered. A curved slot AND stops in the back of the slot might be a bit of a stretch tooling wise though.
I can see how that might work and still allow back and forth movement, sounds reasonable (I use magnets with sharps because of my tremors and it`s so easy to slide across them). Just a thought. Bill
I reckon it is one piece, and I reckon the machining is done on bar-lengths of steel at a time, and then cut into individual heads.
