Hey guys, I found myself using one of thoes $20 off Amazon but I am really happy with even that. Excited to move up to an affixed blade once I learn how to not cut myself.

Welcome to TSD @pemulis! Glad you signed up. If you have questions please do ask. Plenty of friendly knowledgeable folks around to offer opinions, advice, even actual information. Are you considering soap, a brush, and post shave products to do the whole Wet Shave thing? I saw your SotD photo. That razor is often referred to as a Shavette. I have a bare metal stainless steel version of the very same unit. When you have developed the technique to get satisfactory shaves from it switching to an old fashion straight razor will be easy. Then you just have to get and learn to use a strop and hones. Shavettes are easier for the maintenance but more prone to bite than a SR. Charlie @wristwatchb is being cagey, since he's been using his shavette since late December of '18. I used mine for most of January but went back to my DE razors. We both, along with Danny @Hembree participate in the 30 Day Rule / Focus Group. We are a collection of motley characters and Fine Gentlemen acting as coaches & cheerleaders working on our own technique while assisting newcomers to the scene.
Hey thanks everyone. I have considered soap and a brush and it is on my wish list. Alabama! My wife is from there and we have spent a while down there. Nice to see another AL'er here.
