As I had that test handle from yesterday. I was thinking what I could do with it. Well it would be a perfect Stropping handle. So I tried my hand at forming brass to hold the blade. It is a bit hammered looking, as I hammered it to shape. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Thank you. Those were my first ever go at wood handles. I took an old broom and cut a few inches off of the handle.
Thanks. A guy at work is polishing up everything for me. @Jayaruh made me a box several years ago. It was going to be for my son loaded with the bunny and my 400 brush. Unfortunately I ran out of said hardware. I now will utilize it for this razor. I will make a block leather strop to make it fully contained.
I'd hate to see what you come up with when you have to work at it instead of just knocking out a razor for craps and giggles because you can.
If this works out well you should consider chopping up gold dollar straights into usable wedge blades to go with this razor.
I will have to look I might have an extra Gold Dollar. I must say that the Rolls blades are a dream to hone. That Sheffield Steel is perfect.
I doubt the gold dollar straight will be in the same league but it will make for a nice modern substitute if a rolls blade can't be acquired.
Funny thing is a few weeks ago I was thinking I have run out of good razor designs. Then I see the Fox Razor and I instantly knew what I had to try. You never know when inspiration will hit.
Well I could most likely get 2 blades from one. I have a Gold Dollar I modified a few years ago. It actually keeps a decent edge
Unless the price went up you can get a gold dollar still for like $5 or so on ebay. Even if you only get 2 wedge blades out of it as long they work after rehoning them with a decent edge that is still cheap considering how many shaves you should get out of the blades.
I got another idea you can do with a gold dollar, make a switch blade straight, wedge style with a guard or a switch blade razorine type razor.
Yep. That would be the one. The later model looks very much like the picture in the patent. Edit: it might claim to be "universal," but did you notice what blade they use in the example drawing?
This is about the cheapest I found only issue they are shipping literaly and actually on the slow boat from China and with Covid you might not see them until 2+ months later. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Classic-Pr...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649
