Here are two toggle sets for over $1000 sold recently on eBay. The difference is you have to have all the extra stuff that goes with the razor. Largely Incomplete sets don’t really cut it.

so yes, selling for $1000. Not asking for $1000

    2 out of ?

Still say those are outlier prices if they are selling in the $300 range without cases. $500 - $600 is more realistic for complete Toggle sets that aren't serialized or non gold plated ones.

The nicer sets with price tags for example are harder to come by and go for more money.

You call them outliers but they are because they are much more rare and therefore more valuable when they have more of the pieces.

If you have a standard toggle set with price tag and white shipper.... that’s a “complete” set. Not what you are talking about at all. Sorry to disagree but how often do you see a white toggle shipper? Those sets are really complete and will fetch $1500 plus.

Here are 2 that sold under $1000 in the $700 and $800 range. The $800 range one is identical completeness wise to one of those.

Sorry but the sets you link 1) does not have original untouched wrapped blades, price tag, or shipper. 2) does not have warranty card, wrapped blades, price tag or shipper.

If a set was true to being original and untouched and NOS, that’s money. Not having the original blades - no. Not having warranty card - no. Not having wrapped blades - no. Not having price tag - no. Not having instructions - no. Not having the white shipper - no. The more you have, the higher the price. The less you have, the lower the price. Been used a lot? That’s not really a collectible at sells $200 $300. All the goodies then it’s rare and yes an outlier and yes over $1000 to $1200 or even $1500. That’s how it works.

Looked like one of them had stains on the inside lid piece.

Just the cost for them to design and retool a line to make them right would be prohibitive.

My grandfather used to say that the price depends on the need you have to sell and the will you have to buy =) (trying to translate the better I can)

I would love to have one leresche 77, a gillette toggle or a l'essor supreme... The hunt is part of the fun, I hope that some day I will enjoy them. Until then I'm a lucky guy, I have a nice collection that I love to use, and I love to find the hidden treasures at small prices =))
