  2. Day 4 and I feel like I really got the Wilkinson Sword stick dialed in today. My lather was just a little dry yesterday but today I worked more water into it and it was great. And my Schick blade is really hitting its stride. It was one of those shaves where you only feel the cool from the Aqua Velva afterward and I love those. :)
  3. Hi i have made one change to my regime i'm hoping the group will accept this . After the whole scandal with how to grow a moustache i didn't really want to use his soap at the moment as every time i use it I am reminded of the whole scandal which is kind of depressing, and i really want my shave den to be a positive and peaceful place where i can relax. My wife yesterday to me to the local barber shop i bought a new dr harris so so i've swapped that for the how to grow a moustache soap. But blades, razor and aftershave and brush have all been the same. I hope this is ok with everyone as i hope to continue the rest of november with this setup.

  4. Wow. Not to knock anyone else, but that just strikes me as the perfect little setup. I could see that every morning and have no complaints.

  12. Not professionally, I just play with a cheap digital camera, some props, and some free ware image programs. Thanks for the compliment. I need to spend more time learning and also get some better equipment.
  13. Here's another pic of my setup for NO-vember.

I'm having a slightly difficult time so far. First, I've never used this razor before and, although it's very mild, it's taking some getting used to in my usual "trouble spots". I think it's going to be OK. Second, I'm using new soap - Stirling Black Ice - which has a really great scent and LOTS of the menthol I like, but I've NEVER used a solid puck of soap before. I started on creams and then went to a Proraso "croap", now this. It may not be really a solid puck, but I'm having to take quite a bit of extra time to get a lather going. Guess I'm going to have to watch some Mantic59 videos or something!

Hang in there guys! There's a turkey waiting for us at the end on Thanksgiving!

  14. Bah come one! Lol

Sticking with one setup really let's you focus on the intricacies of your technique, the setting of the razor, the blade, the soap and how your lather is...

On day 4 I made some minor adjustments and had a much more enjoyable shave with BBS results.

No pic today, was in a hurry.

Doing good though, the only thing that is tempting me is the straight I just polished up, and am setting the bevel on this weekend. How do I not shave with it? Lol

Nice close NoVember shave. Fifth shavee on the Personna blade and it was starting to tug a little bit. other than that, was a DFS kind of day. The WSP stubby and the TSD lanolin soap are great combination.

  16. Fifth shave on my Schick injector blade and it hasn't deteriorated at all so far. That's encouraging since I'm trying to get 25 more out of it. :) The Wilkinson Sword stick is working great. It looks like I've already put a hurt on it after only 4 days. I'm using it as a pre-shave too so I'm probably using it at about double the normal rate. I'm sure a 40-grit beard doesn't help conserve soap either. Hopefully it lasts the month. I think it's going to be a great travel stick though since it does a good job softening whiskers (no need to take anything extra) and it makes great lather, even in my hard water. Nothin' but cool from the Aqua Velva afterward. It felt like I was splashing water on my face until the menthol kicked in. That's a comfortable shave!

  17. Good grief! Only using one of my brushes and one scent of my favourite soaps for a whole month?! I don't think I could ever do this!
Using only one DE razor, than that is easy enough; Weber DLC! :)

  18. Thursday's Proposed Shave
    sod141106.JPG
  19. Still going with it, while phasing in a Parker shavette to learn. Would have shaved tomorrow, but like a noob I shaved yesterday screwing up my whole schedule. I shave every other day, not every day. So, now today, I have this School of Business and Econ Career Expo thing today that I have to go to in a couple hours, and I did my No shave November shave with 1.25 days of hair and it went alright. I HAD to look super good for this thing. Just chillin' waiting for the blood to dry up as I print out my new resume. >.> <.<. I'll give my face atleast TWO days to recuperate, then I'm going to start growing a goatee like "Theshockwav" on Youtube. My chin and under lip area are my horrible super uber sensitive spots that always get BURNED.
  20. One thing a shavette will teach you is what "no pressure" really means. :) On the bright side... Chicks dig scars.
