    Lather: Bronson Distinguished Goat
    Brush: L'Occitane Plisson

    Aftershave: NeverMoreBodyCo.Guinness
Let's start with the 1941 Ranger Tech. Possibly one of the best shaves I've ever had, I'll need a few more to make it official. Bronson Distinguished Goat, Guinness and Goat milk, notes of creamy oatmeal, orange peel, butterscotch, almond and vanilla. Very easy to lather, slick, plenty of cushion. Bonus: it's local! Made in San Jose!!
Finished off my shave with NeverMoreBodyCo Guinness!

Well - that's exactly what I do. Load the brush, lather, dip the brush tips in water, lather more. And this is the first combination of soap and brush that's giving me trouble like that. I usually produce lather for 3 or 4 passes with my WD Synthetic and Taylor Cream or Cella Soap.

Today was day four with the dreaded Feather AC SS and I am starting to see some improvements. I did an uneventful WTG pass with no irritation or weepers. This gave me enough confidence to try some ATG cleanup on my neck. I managed to get a CCS with only only one minor weeper on my neck. It wasn't even bad enough to require the styptic pencil. I'm still not going to be overconfident and will not chase BBS for a while, as I don't need any more scars

From what I understand in reading different posts, yours is not a unique issue with the brush. Many people posts about a significant improvement in the Semogue brush after it is broken in. My Omega was never that bad in the start but did get much better in the lather it produced and released after it was broken in. Maybe some people more familiar with your brush will post up some tips.

Another suggestion would be to post a thread in the brush section asking for tips.

I have a semogue and I have had to reload it in its first week. It breaks I and holds massive amounts in a short amount of time. Mine is very soft and can hold enough lather for 4 passes now that I've had it a few months. Mine is the 1438.

okay, since the brush is just a few weeks old and has been used only 5 or 6 times, patience is the key here, I guess ;)

I tried to pick up a type F on eBay but it went for $110. Much more than I wanted to pay. I'll keep looking.

Post - Cold Water, Alum, Aloe

Day four and hanging in there with the same setup. Looking a bit rough but it could be worse. I think the added aloe at night has helped. Had a bit of a problem with the lather this morning which is unusual. I think I went just a little too dry on the brush. The load looked good but it turned out a bit thin. It was workable though so off to the shave.

Standard technique starting on the right. I was a bit concerned about the cut from yesterday but got past that fine. Finished the right side completely and under the chin, then went left. I ended up doing Japanese grip for the first pass then switched to left hand for the second. On the second neck pass I opened the cut under my chin again. Seems like a daily problem. Need to reassess how I'm getting under there. I also went on the diagonal on the neck, same direction I usually Gillette Slide, but without any sliding motion. I just don't see anything good coming from any horizontal movement with this thing.

I noticed at the end I have one very small nick right on the cheekbone on my right side along with a couple of others in that area that have accumulated this week. Another area to focus on getting across a bit more smoothly. Overall a pretty nice CCS that I cooled off and conditioned with aloe. Looks and feels about as good as it has this month so far so that's something.

It's Wednesday - you know what that means.

I might have missed it, but what blade are you using in the Feather?

For anyone interested in trying a pain stick, ebay has the CJB for less than $30. Only 3 that i see. If I could find a job I would pick one up.

EDIT: also a Sam Seong pain stick for a few $ more.

    Razor: Mongoose B3

AS: Changes at will. Today: Myrsol Blue

Razor / Blade - After my usual shave on Tuesday, this morning I woke up with the least amount of growth the day after a shave than ever. I guess that speaks to the quality of the cut of this combo.

Thanks to a suggestion from @clint64 I’m working on figuring out the best attack angle around my mustache and goatee/patch with the oversized head of the Mongoose. Otherwise it will require a two-razor shave with an injector doing the trim work.

    Another great shave today.

After the initial impressions from three shaves with this Razor / Blade, my goals for the month are to:
    • develop an efficient two-pass shave pattern eliminating missed spots.
    • develop a trim strategy around facial hair.
    • determine the “best for me” system on number of shaves per blade.
I will report as well on the soap / brush combo by the end of the week.

    Cheers!

I am using the Professional blade.

The CJB is the one I am using this month. I think I actually prefer the grip to the Feather AC SS. The cost on these razors are for the blades. My face doesn't get along well with the Feather blades. I have been enjoying using the Kai blades. To me they feel smoother.

    Have you tried the Proguards?
    Or even the Lights?

No. I jumped all in. Do you have experience with the others? Do they make a big difference?

I have used the Progaurds. I didn't notice much of a difference in sharpness. They are less likely to cut as cleanly as a non-guarded blade, but they will still give a lot of irritation if any pressure is used.

I started off with a CJB and Feather Lights.

The blade exposure is a lot less.
The Proguards I found are slightly more forgiving than the Professionals.

The SS is slightly milder than the RG\DX.

If you put a Light in it the blade exposure is almost non-existant.

Try a Proguard or a Kai Mild maybe?
