Thursday, November 17, 2016 Envy Shave 'Eight Ball' with Envy white Nuavia Verde RazoRock BlackHawk Feather Pro #2 Folsom & Co. Shambala
Plenty of Straight Shavers here. Don't be shy, ask questions. When shaving with a razor that is all blade exposure, there are no stupid questions. My one bit of advice; start by shaving downward on only your cheeks. Use your other razors to complete the shave. Do that until you feel comfortable using either hand. Other parts of your beard take time to develop the skills needed. After around one hundred straight shaves you will commonly have developed the techniques needed to do a complete straight razor shave. Welcome to the Dark Side!
16 November 2016 Two pass DFS! Having a great month on the shavette! Snow by this time tomorrow out on the prairie. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado. Have a terrific Thursday! ☺
NOVember!! November 16 Grand Blade Trial - NOVember shave - Safety Style Razor - Edwin Jagger DE89L Blade - (2) Soap - Tabac Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip Post - Alum, Tabac Cologne Tonight was a planned straight shave with the Rabbit but.....my pancreas decided it wanted to complain all day. Well, actually the pseudocyst that hangs out with it but that's just being picky. When I have days where it all acts up I have pains in my left side just under the rib cage. Think just under the stomach and against the side a bit. It can be anything from a dull sudden ache to a knife blasting its way through. And, at times it will hit with enough force and surprise to cause me to catch my breath or even, at times and when it's at its worst, take a knee until it passes. NOT the night to have a straight razor in my hand. As if last night worked out any better. So, a nice safe DE shave tonight with the EJ and a Rapira. My backup for the straights that got used last night as well. Can't say enough about how smooth this shave was with the Tabac whipped into a fantastic lather by the Wolf. Three great passes to near-BBS. A little touch up would have gotten there but no reason to chase the baby. It's a two pain pill night and when they kick in I won't worry about that baby anyway. Hope you all had a great day. It was Monday for me at work and that's always fun. Glad it's "Tuesday" tomorrow. Hope to be able to use the Rabbit tomorrow. Not only to get another day with it but because it will mean I'm back to normal again. Well, for me anyway. Looking for 80 degrees here in STL tomorrow. I heard from the home office in Moscow. They had a report from the Siberian Cartel that the first snows of the season arrived there today. Apparently just a quick light dusting for them. They sent a picture.
Day 3 with DR Harris... on the road. I thought maybe a change of water would bring this soap to life..... alas no, OK but not up to it's rep. My travel set up is an Ikon SB, Feather blade and Whipped Dog silver tip. I finished BBS but with some irritation, the soap is just a hair short in slickness to my top software.
November 17, 2016 Wolfman WR-01 Ti OC with Hempel Ti Personna 74 (19) “Los Tres Amigos Dos” CH 2 Synthetic LE Reef Point Dragon’s Blood Witch Hazel Fine Platinum This makes 19 shaves in with the vintage Personna 74. I am still managing to get a decent shave but it is not nearly as close. I know some manage 28-30 shaves so I will keep going. Reef Point is a soap that does not get much attention but I find it to have top notch performance. The soap is easy to whip into a rich slick lather. I truly enjoy the scent of Dragon's Blood. I finished off the shave with a splash of Fine Platinum. I hope everyone has a great Thursday.
Great set up, Clint. Reef Point is one of the few soaps I haven't tried that I wish to, but it will have to wait until 2018.
Gillette Tech Bulldog Handle Rapira Swedish Supersteel (1) Semogue BC Mistura LaToja SC Alum I could have used a bit more water in the lather this morning as it just wasn't quite slick enough. Overall, it was a nice irritation free shave which stayed on focus...
Brush Jayaruh #94 with Whipped Dog high mountain badger knot Soap Mysitc Water Vetiver & Oakmoss Razor Rockwell s6 #4 plate Blade Feather (2) Fine Accouterments Green Vetiver Aftershave Splash with a good amount of Art of Shaving Vetiver Citron Cologne (from sample) DFS this morning from the razor and Feather blade day 2. @Bama Samurai, I do find a subtle change in the blade between day 1 and day 2; however, it is sharp and provides a good DFS shave with a N/S E/W two pass shave. As of now, I think I will only use my DE blades for 3 shaves since life is just too short to take the time for a good shave in the morning and have it come out rough. I went with another round of all vetiver for three reasons. I like vetiver, I wanted to try the combo of Fine Green Vetiver & AOS Vetiver Citron, I wanted to give this soap another go. After the shave, I can say that after a concerted effort, I could not get the soap to turn from a bubbly foam to lather & the AOS Vetiver has a much more toned down "grassy" note that tones down the aftershave for a lighter vetiver yet a very light manly scent.
If you like a "grassy" vetiver, then Fine Green Vetiver aftershave splash combined with Guerlain Vetiver is the mac daddy.
