View attachment 211305 I suspect this will be my last shave of NoRepeat November, unless something comes up tomorrow I see the need to shave for. Saved my favourite scent/base combo for the last. It is quite well-documented on here how I feel about the Felce, and the MonoBilt as well. Everything performed as I expected, which is a very good thing.
I have really enjoyed the focus this month. I was able to rotate through all my razors before going back and pulling a few for a 2nd go, as well as a similar rotation with my brushes. One razor (the Schick I1) got left at the lake for the winter so it didn't get a go, but every other piece of hardware did. I did have a full No Repeat on the software, and am somewhat embarrassed to say there are still a few tubs and some samples I didn't even get to.
I have really enjoyed following along this month as always. So many positive messages yesterday that I completely concur with...we are very fortunate to have this little slice of comradery, advice, laughter and compassion tucked in the corner of the internet.
So far I have avoided a big bill this Black Friday, although I have a soap, splash and razor inbound already from last week. A busy day scheduled may be just the ticket to keep me away from sale sites today...

Rumor has it that we have some good leftovers for the weekend. Both soaps perform wonderfully (smell nice too), but I like the buttery/creamy consistency of Mike's lather better. I'll continue this comparison for a while until both tins of soap are used up. The next comparison will be be between Mike's and Stirling sometime in the next few months. I know what I like, and I'm pretty much done chasing all the latest and greatest soaps and creams. What I may do is branch out into some different scents of brands like Mike's, Stirling, or TOBS. In addition to MdC and Tabac, you can sorta see where my "Top 5" are ending up. (MdC is the Top 5 outlier, if there is one. I have nearly two full pucks...probably a lifetime supply. It's a very good soap, but I doubt I'd repurchase it.)

All you Black Friday/Cyber Monday enablers got the best of me. I ordered two water filters for my fridge and 4 bottles of Thayers Witch Hazel!!! I perused all the on-line shaving vendors, filled and emptied shopping carts, and eventually decided I don't want or need anything right now. I have not ruled out a Feather DX kamisori style razor, and I have the "Max Headroom Approved" vendor on my eBay watch list.

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving! Haven't been posting this week but I've been shaving with Mitchell's Wool Fat all week. Brought some American Blend, Speick, and WSP Tobacco splashes along (all in little sample containers) and used my dopp kit Schick J1 as the razor. We're heading home at some point today. It's about a four hour drive. It was a nice, relaxing week off.

Did give in and made a purchase on Stirling's website this morning. Got a shave soap and splash set in one of his limited edition scents called Meghalaya, then got some bath soaps to top it off. I didn't go crazy. That's the only purchase I plan to make today.

I would never enable anyone, as is very well established here, but I would just encourage you to go ahead and get that Feather DX. It's an investment, really, given its quality and shaving ability. Plus....all the cool kids have one. No pressure.

Terrific shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS. Silent alum.

I adore the scent and performance of the Hemingway Accoutrements cream but I do seem to struggle getting the consistency and quantity of lather I'm looking for. I just don't start with enough. I have very little experience with shave creams.

First use of a CVS blade, nice! Very smooth.

First shave with a 1912 pattern razor in long enough that I don't remember using one but pretty sure I had one in my collection at some point. Overall it was an alright shave for the first time picking up this razor. It felt pretty mild, but fairly efficient. The S to N pass was a little awkward but to be expected first time using a razor. If I finished with this result from a micromatic, I would give the shave a C, but for a first time out B+. I don't see this being a favorite yet, but it definitely has potential to be a good shaver.

I know you can all read the name of that blade, right? Direct from Samah Razor Blades Industries in the resort areas of Bangladesh - I present the Balaka. It is made by the same company that makes the Sharp Durablade, which easily rates as one of the 10 worst blades I've ever had in a razor. So, what's the worst that could happen?

You'll also notice that I paired this blade with a slightly aggressive razor, the 1918 Gillette OT. With the finest blade this razor can exact revenge. Again, what's the worst that can happen?

You'll notice I went all Stirling for the software to give this setup a chance. Orange chill for the nice menthol and orange combo along with the Finest Badger brush. Excellent, even luxurious lather and more than I needed. Surely the question, what's the worst that could happen - couldn't really be a problem, right?

Well, I'm not bleeding. That's the good news. The Balaka is a carbon steel blade, though it wouldn't have mattered as it is about as sharp as my mind at 3 a.m. To say this thing dragged and pulled would be an understatement worthy of an award. The first pass especially was horrid. I nearly tossed in the towel. But, I'm no quitter and I have had worse shaves (which is really scary) so I kept on. By the end of the second pass I was either getting enough reduction to make it seem sort of ok, or else my face was just getting used to the pain. So, I threw in the third pass and called it good. I can say I got a DFS result, not horrible actually but my word it was not the easiest thing to do. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! And an early gift to you with that shave! Have a great Friday tomorrow and try not to spend too much money on shopping here in the states!

I can also say I've done a ton of shopping on all the vendor sites....loaded up a cart, emptied it. But not purchased anything....yet. There's only a couple things at this point on the want list. I managed to sleep in late and take a leisurely walk with Mocha this morning. Another excellent drama free shave before starting a day of doing absolutely nothing. The really enjoy the performance and scent of Colonia. Three passes and touch ups ended in a perfect drama free BBS shave. I hope everyone has a great Friday.

Thanks, Terry! It generally does. Not nearly as much ingrowns, but one or two occasionally. But i'm not sure if the one i shaved off was from shaving or eating unhealthy food.
