OCtober 13th Gillette Old Type w Feather (4) WD HM Badger Barrister's Reserve Cool SS Thayers Booster Polar Ice AS Decided to go with the OT/Feather combo for one more day and went with the fantastic Reserve Cool. It only takes about a 12 second load to have plenty of thick, slick lather with this soap. It takes as much water as you want to throw at it, and I'm thinking I might pick up the Reserve Fern as well at some point. The Feather held up well enough for a fourth day, and a nice, comfortable 3 pass shave was had. A few touch ups along my jawline, and I'd call this a very near BBS. Splashed on the Polar Ice, which matches quite well, and all is good. Have a great day all!
13 OCtober 2017 R E D Friday Shave Another Friday, another shave with Route 66 "Rum Runner". While I only have one Route 66 soap, I'm positive it is indicative of the entire line. A great scent, slickness and cushion. Yup, @Salty Belle can make a fantastic soap! The NEW/GSB duo has held up until the end of the week. I was BBS again after 2.5 passes of shaving excellence. Splashed on some Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum and TGIF is underway in fine style. WEAR RED TODAY! HOOAH
Best shave of the month. I’m smooooth Stirling Dunshire Soap Wolf Whiskers Brush RigaRazor Lucky Tiger Pinaud Clubman After Shave Happy Friday!
My Wet Shaving Products Sandalwood soap is finally making suds! That didn't happen quicker than the other soaps I have, but it's nice to finally see some in there.
How do you apply/load the Arko out of such a small container, Rick? Beautiful photo, Clint! Off topic question, of what material is your counter top? I hope you get some R&R soon, Perry! Praying for the best, Chris. Stunning razor, Brian!
That's not what I mean at all. For instance : what do you mean is finally making suds ? Did you just now start using it, or was it not producing suds? What is the process you use to build a lather ?
Paul, could you elaborate on this some? A shave soap should produce the suds the first time you use it. It should be spilling over the edges when the container is new and full.
Well, the WSP soap certainly does spill over the edges, and has for most of my shaves with it, since it's packed so tightly. But until this morning, it looked flat and hardly used after each use. As I said, my other soaps showed suds much earlier(66, Stirling, TSD Lanolin/Russian Leather, Local Gent Co.).
I like the way that the brushes always seem to pop in your photos. Happy Friday. Rum Runner Friday. Bravo. You have a wonderful collection of straights Brian. Do you try to rotate through the all?
Thanks, Clint! It's been a wild week. I was on a local radio show last night promoting the band and talking about what we do this time of year but also the year-round activities. We had a contingent of students there to perform a few tunes. All of that on top of a full school day and a two hour practice after school. But, it will slow down soon. We have our last contest next Saturday. After that we'll back off to just one after-school practice for an hour. There is a light at the end of the tunnel!
Thank you Andrew. The background is black granite on the kitchen counter tops. The island has a contrasting gray granite top that is often featured in SOTD photos.
