OCtober14, 2017 Wolfman OC Ti (0.74mm) Feather Shavemac LE with DO1 2 Band Flat Top Reef Point Test Depth Witch Hazel with Menthol Cool Water EDT The Shavemac Flat Top loaded the Test Depth easily and whipped up a mountain of rich slick lather. I am really impressed with the performance of the Reef Point Tallow based soaps. I have found them to be easy to load and lather with wonderful slickness. I went with a 2 pass shave, XTG followed by ATG. After touch ups along the jaw line and an additional pass on my lower right neck, I easily caught the baby. Better yet the shave was the smoothest shave I have had this month. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.
Today was an A+ shave all around, to borrow a term from @Keithmax This is my favorite vintage gear. The brush is still a great face latherer. Tabac Shave Stick Culmak SM2 Brush Wade and Butcher Celebrated Razor Lucky Tiger Pitrulon Classic After Shave Have a great weekend!
OCtober 14th Gillette NEW LC w Feather (1) TSE Beach Bum TGN Synthetic Thayers TFS Mastro Miche Thanks to a trade with a fellow 30 DC'er, I have a few new soaps and aftershaves to try. Used the Beach Bum this morning. This is my first soap by this maker. Got a good lather, and the scent is different from my usuals. A really nice shave this morning, and the Feather felt smooth in this NEW. Not sure of matching the Mastro Miche. It is an AS that doesn't seem to have a wide range of appropriate scent matches. I am going to the lake today, and will be winterizing the RV this weekend. Our local golf courses are closing this weekend as well. Fall is definitely here. Have a great day all!
I thought that was the "epic shave" you always pursue. But, exactly, Grail Shave is user defined. I like the Fatip/Joris geometry for the same reason as you.
Great shave this morning! It’s Saturday, so the first pass was with the straight. More whisker reduction than normal, and a couple of small weepers. I’ll take it! Finished up with the Slim loaded with a Treet carbon steel. The alum let me know I’d used the straight by providing some mild burning as feedback, but nothing worse than what I experienced when I was first learning to DE shave. Compared Viking Ragnar to Stirling Sharp Dressed Man soaps (both crafted after Creed Aventus). Honestly, without nitpicking about silly minutia, I have no complaints from either one.
Great photo Jason. The TSE soap looks very interesting. I am looking forward to your opinion on its performance as you continue to use the soap.

14 OCtober Pre-Shave: Hot Shower Brush: 25mm Boar Brush, Omega 81064 Soap: 1) Badger Shaving Soap 2) Arko Razor: Valet VC2, Autostrop Blade: Feather FAS-10 Carbon Steel(CS), Feather Seikan (3) Strop: Amish made Post-Shave: Cold Water rinse, OSMA Alum block and Clubman Musk Photo: I had used this brush Tuesday and thought it needed some help with the break-in period. I put it in a cup of water than put the cup & brush in the refrigerator for three day. After I pulled it out of the fridge I hand lathered with it once. The brush is a bit softer and does have some split ends now that it did not before. In my opinion putting the brush in the fridge works in aiding to shorten the break in period. If you have a tough badger brush this will help. Thanks go out to @BambulanceMan for the tip. I bought the Badger SS from a local all natural shop when I picked up some Thayers WH. It has a good scent almost like Bay Rum, very spicy like, though I don't use it all that often. Today I was reminded why. It lathered nicely but the lather did not last long on my face. I may have had the water to soap ratio wrong I don't know. I do know that it was just not working so I went to old rereliable, ARKO. I stropped the blade 10 times before the shave, then did a two pass shave. First pass with Badger SS, then the second with Arko. Was not looking for BBS today as I have to shave tomorrow for Jims, aka @Jayaruh birthday tomorrow, 15 Oct. Happy Birthday Jim. I am even making my son use his JR #181 tomorrow. The shave was pretty good as I only did two passes. I did have a little sting on my neck from the Alum block. I finished off the shave with some Clubman Musk. I think the Musk is a ringer for Old Spice. Now I have asked my Wife what she thought of Old Spice in the past. She responded with "Do you want to smell like my father?". So today when I put on the Musk I told her that if she called me Dad today I would NOT be using the Musk again. All in all it was a darn good shave. Maybe a little closer then I was originally hoping for but darn good all the same. Stropped the blade ten more times and then was ready for the day.
Thank you, I'm very happy with it. The real mother of pearl scales look much better than in the picture. Keep at it, that is a good start.
