@Douglas Carey sent me some Personna 74 DE blades sometime back. So I loaded one in the Wolfman Ti OC planning to see how long I can make the blade last. The CH2 Synthetic aka "The Soap Destroyer" whipped up a mountain of rich slick lather. I decided to stick with a 3 pass shave. The blade did feel a little harsh on the first use but the results were a near perfect shave. I did get a couple of weepers due to my errors. Since Folsom & Co is back in business with products to sell, I went with a splash of F&C Capri to finish the shave. I hope everyone has a great Monday.

Thank you, Clint! It has a minty smell, but there is something else there. Almost a grassy note. I am not sure they make it anymore.

    Prep: Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Schick
    Razor: Schick J1 injector
    Brush: JR #142 black badger
    Lather: Palmolive shave stick
Post: Witch hazel, Reef Point Classic Barbershop aftershave
    WTG, touch up

Really easy Palmolive shave this morning. The lather was great - nice and slick and plentiful. This shave stick experiment is getting easier and easier. The J1 was mild and smooth and all came together nicely.

@NCoxSTL - Like you, I could see the Stirling pre-shave soap becoming part of my normal routine. My shaves are overall smoother and more comfortable when using it. I enjoy the results and it doesn't add much more time to the whole routine - just a few seconds to wash up and rinse. I will keep experimenting but I have a full bar that will last quite a while, so might as well add it in!

Hope you all have a great day!

16 OCtober 2017 Menthol Monday Shave

Continuing my return to shave creams, this morning's shave was accomplished with C O Bigelow Premium Shave Cream.
The Rubberset 303 whipped up a nice bowl full of lather.
Since I had a little extra time this morning, I ran off a very nice 3 pass BBS shave with the NEW/GSB combo.
Splashed on some Proraso Green Lozione Dopobarba and it was off to another Monday.
    Have a good 'un.

I used JR#160 this morning in honor of Jayaruh's 70th birthday yesterday. He crafted the handle from a "bat nib" obtained from the lathe at the Louisville Slugger Bat Factory, and he harvested a boar knot from an Omega Pro 98 brush handle. It is one of my favorite brushes and a treasured addition to my den!

I hope you all have a great Monday!

Day 2 of the NEW/Feather combo and a very nice shave this morning. Went with the Proraso Green for 'Menthol Monday', which I don't seem to adhere to very regularly. I am very near BBS, however I seem to no longer have any skin on my Adam's apple, which was the result of sleepy operator error.
Another new to me -via trade- product used this morning. Clubman is not as readily available here in this part of Canada as it is in the US. I guess I'm pretty much the last person to the Pinaud party on here. Felt ok on the face, and I'll have to use it a few more times here and there for a better opinion on the scent.
    Have a great day all!

    Screwtape A Shaving Butterfly

Monday morning October 16 - repeat for practice

Fatip Grande / Topaz Platinum (2)
Semogue Owners Club cherrywood boar brush
    Reef Point Espresso soap
Alum and Lucky Tiger. (and styptic pencil)

Yesterday's shave with the Fatip Grande was excellent except for my lather. It was skimpy - another screwup with the SOC boar brush. So today I repeated the shave with the same setup.

After soaking my brush and then squeezing the water out of it, I loaded the soap. I loaded for about twice as long as yesterday. I then examined the brush and only the tips seemed to be soapy. I decided the problem might be that the brush was now too dry for this fairly dry and hard soap. So I dipped the tips in my water bowl and went back to loading. This time I noticed much more "action" in the soap tub and the brush was soon white with loaded product nearly to the base of the knot. When I lathered in my bowl this time - trickling in extra water a couple times as I whipped - the result was at least three passes worth of slick creamy lather.

It seems that the SOC boar brush needs more water and a LOT more soap than I am used to loading onto my synthetics or badgers. But when properly loaded, the result is great lather.

Yesterday I did a single pass to mow a couple days of stubble. Today I was shaving a daily trim but I did my normal two passes. First pass is diagonal on the face and ATG on the neck; second is XTG everywhere. The result was a superb BBS. The only fly in the ointment was a small weeper near my Adam's apple on my first pass and another under my lower lip on the second. The second was just a tiny bit of bloodspotting but wouldn't go away even after the rinse, alum rub and second rinse until I lost patience and hauled out the styptic pencil. The alum otherwise showed no signs of irritation anywhere.

I finished off by turning myself into a giant orange with the Lucky Tiger. Overall, I would call this one a near epic shave, to borrow a phrase from @Keithmax.

Thank you. My youngest daughter has hip surgery on Wednesday so I know I will be very busy over the next couple of weeks. Since I had the time on Saturday so I cheated and took 14 SOTD photos.
