Well I'm bald and I'm usually free, depending. Although the baldness is a bit artificial. I have a huge bald spot on the back of my head that ends up isolating a small patch of hair on top that is thinning and absolutely useless. So better to shave the whole thing than try to deal with that. As to the free, I always said I was cheap and easy......actually free, well so I'll pay if I have to.
The Aristocrat and Voskhod were made for each other, in my humble opinion. I used that setup for my original Rule and loved it. My nickname for that combo is the "detente setup". Great American razor and Russian blade keeping each other in line with perfect balance to each other.
Got a ton of new blades today, tonight will be my last shave on the Personna Red. It's hard to hold back on changing it. I think the next blade I try will be Derby. And hey! Just saw I'm a "well known member" now! That's pretty cool. I just want to thank everyone for listening to my Uneducated post and taking me under yalls wing. I probably wouldn't have drove on after those two bad shaves without y'all.
I'm giving the type C a shot with the Schick blade today. I'm giving the new WD brush the best test I know, new Williams. I think it did alright. More after the shave.
Decant it into glass. Never smell it directly from the bottle. Apply liberally, like a boss. Never have your SO judge it until after it has dried for an hour on your skin. This was John Wayne's after shave. Enough said. Good luck.
Ok shave complete. The Williams acted like it always does for me and gave a long lasting lather. Mine has sat out long enough to not have a smell anymore. It didn't really provide much protection. I remember it being much better but I've been using really good soap since then. I finished up a 2 pass WTG ATG shave with an extra pass on the neck area (all neck passes alternating XTG with slide) I'm giving this a DFS+ I could have caught the baby but I wanted to use clubman and I'm not fond of the stuck my face in lava feeling I get using clubman after irritating my face. I rubbed in some nivia sensitive post shave balm then splashed on some clubman. So far I'm leaning towards the type B as the more comfortable shaver. I'll give the type B the Williams test and let the type C have some MWF so I can better compare them before I decide.
That's what I'm wanting to read! Very nice! Welcome to Voshkod. They are central to the power of the cartel!
An idea... Hold on the blues...try them in another razor at a later date as the blues may just not like that razor. You never know...
I have read that it's best after a month in glass. something about the chemicals in the plastic causing a reaction in the veg that makes it smell worse. It needs a month to fully equalize after the plastic is taken away. I would think that all aftershave would do better in glass but mine are all still in plastic so I'm not an authority on it. @entropy1049 could explain it better.
Day 5 - 30 Days with the Fat Boy Best TTO razor I have ever used. I have used it on six (with GSB) with awesome near BBS results every time. Just checking in quickly tonight, life is great, Mrs. Samurai and I are having a nice relaxing week. Keep up those great shaves and shenanigans! Have a wonderful Wednesday!
Derby is a much maligned blade but it's a solid choice. Not the sharpest but it's smooth, at least for me. My wife won't use any other blade when she shaves her legs. Don't know if that helps or not. lol
I had the same reaction to vintage glass. I settled on this until I find a good deal on a bottle. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000MITDIU/?tag=thshde-20 I didn't buy that exact model, but wal-mart, target, et al, have cruets like this for $3-$6 new.
