Hmmm...seems like I've heard that line somewhere before.... (He said as he flicked his cigar ash, while his eyebrows danced.)
I forgot to say anything about my shave. Whipped dog synthetic New Williams Type B open comb Schick repeater Clubman AS This shave was great. despite the less protective williams soap I still got a DFS+ I only missed the baby by the hollow right under my jawbone. If the type C doesn't step up its game tomorrow with the MWF then its sailing away to new seas soon.
My bride is Atlanta born and bred. I on the other hand, was born and raised in Detroit. But I've been in the Atlanta area since 1987. My wife is the reason we live in Smyrna. Nice place, but the North Georgia mountains are calling us. I'm ready to get away from the Atlanta traffic, but I'm afraid we'll be here a while yet.
NOW you're talking. Just try to avoid the one pass neck pass. It ends the need for future passes......forever.
That's why I love dawsonville. Still small, but from what I've heard things have blown up since I left home. Dahlonega and the Ellijay area are some of my favorite parts of North Georgia. I worked in Smyrna for awhile drilling helix piers.
This place is awesome. Because of the people. Happy birthday to my internet friend who lived in a frat house several decades ago that is two blocks from my current home. Who knew the Cartel had a soft side?
Another thing to try, that is part of my daily shave is a cold water rinse after your last pass. I don't do cold water shaves, but the cold water rinse does wonders for irritation.
"Several decades ago". Boy I don't like the sound of that but it is very true. Coming up on 4 decades. OUCH! Soft side? Who? Where? Only tough guys here! Oh, and by the way, Vladimir Putin was also born on October 7th. I share my birthday with him, along with Bishop Tutu and John Mellencamp. My claims to fame.
Everyday I see random acts of kindness here at The Shave Den and it makes me feel good about being a part of it here. I have had many friendly people help me through all stages of my wetshaving journey and even offer well wishes and prayer for my hardships and the health of my family. I'm so happy about being here and seeing great acts like these that I couldn't think of anything to say so I'll just say thank you to you guys for making this feel like a new branch of family and for being so very friendly to a young guy like me. I benefit from simply knowing you. On a lighter note, Happy belated Birthday @NCoxSTL. I hope everyday brings you joy.
I've been doing a cold water rinse before my touch up. It makes the last remaining stubble stand up straight for slaughter. I think this is one of the reasons I've been so fortunate in the BBS department. Of course, other reasons include blade angle, paying attention to the beard grain, a good lather... you get the drill - all the stuff I learned from the fine folks from the Den!
10/7/15 Gillette Old Type Frank Shaving Pur-tech Synthetic C.O. Bigelow cream Aqua Velva Ice Blue Shave #1 with the Lord Platinum Class in my Old Type. Did face lather and 2 full passes: Pass 1 XTG on my face and XTG on my neck (top to bottom today). Great reduction and very comfortable, almost DFS. Pass 2: ATG. Almost had a BBS at this point. A cold water rinse followed by some minor touch up and the baby came home. The Aqua Velva was mild today. Love the Lord Platinum Class in my Old Type. We’re still on the road. Yesterday was on Antelope Island in the Great Salt Lake followed by Big Cottonwood Canyon to see Solitude and Brighton ski resorts, then Enterprise Pass linking Brighton to Park City. Today we toured Bryce Canyon. Stunning! Tomorrow we’re headed for the Flamingo in Las Vegas for two nights. Decided we wanted to park for a couple of nights in one place. We're not into gambling, but my wife loves Donnie & Marie, so what's a guy to do but please his bride with front and center tickets for Friday night! Of course the show is no surprise, it's the reason we came on the trip! Hope all is well!
Yeah, I can see where someone born and raised in Detroit might not like all that traffic in GA... Actually, I hear ya...That Atlanta traffic can be brutal...Man, I'm a Jazz Musician, and both those cities have a lot of action...Detroit is like one of the best cities for raising great players... Barry Harris, Paul Chambers, Elvin-Thad-Hank Jones, Charles McPherson, Pepper Adams, Yusef Lateef, Kenny Burrell, Sonny Stitt, Curtis Fuller, Louis Smith, and the list just goes on and on......When I was on the road all the time I always looked forward to Detroit.... But you certainly have nicer winters where you are now....}8^D
