October 16, 2015 OC October - This month I'll introduce myself to OC razors. Gillette New LC Gillette Goodwill Standard Safety Razor OC Schick Type C1 OC Morning shave Hot Shower Soap: La Toya stick Brush: Vintage Rubberset Travel Brush Razor: Schick Type C1 OC Blade: Schick (China) (4) TSD Witch Hazel Aftershave: Vintage Old Spice This was probably the last shave of the focus with this razor and my travel gear setup. I had consistent, solid shaves this week. My travel gear needs to provide a consistent, reliable and most times, a quicker shave than my usual morning shave at home. This set-up provides it. The La Toya produces a quick, easy and rich lather with just enough of a spice, tobacco and barbershop scent to linger awhile, while being subtle. When using the Arko stick, I get approximately the same result, except for the scent so I’ll be able to interchange these two for variety. The C1 razor and Schick (Chinese) blade provides a very clean, consistent shave and will be reliable that way - as long as I ditch the blade after about three - four shaves. (Today’s 4th was still good but not as sharp as the first.) I’ll use this kit about once a week, so it will provide me an easy blade-changeout-schedule of once a month. I’m happy to have found some vintage products that not only provides a solid shave while being extremely compact, but are also aesthetically pleasing as well. Cheers! RT
Great choice for your Blue Jays card. He's remembered as recording the first win in the new "SkyDome".
This is my setup for my first ever OC shave. The brush is in there for looks only. I received the razor and the Crew shave products as birthday gifts. First time use for all. Equipment Razor Gillette Debutante OC (1921) Blade Astra SP Shave cream Crew (just apply to face no lathering required) Post shave Crew lotion. Being the first time using an OC I was slightly nervous. That turned out to be a great thing. As I went very slow and deliberate. Did standard 3 pass WTG XTG ATG. When applying the Crew shave cream it had a nice sent and a nice cooling feeling. I was surprised as to how slick this stuff is. Not oily feeling at all, the razor glided over my face. First pass removed a good amount of whiskers. Re-applied more cream and proceeded with second pass. This pass removed the vast majority of whiskers. This could have sufficed for a nice shave. But being this is the first time for an OC I wanted to see what the third pass would do. I needed to apply only a small amount more of cream to my face, felt fairly slick still. I did not want to chance it though. At this point there was zero nicks. My third pass went great I was able to get the best shave under my jaw to date. It just plowed down those super flat lying whiskers. When I got to my upper lip I do a 45 ATG. I relaxed my upper lip just ever so and got a small knick in my lip. All in all this is one of my best shaves ever. I will be finishing the month out with This razor and I will give the Sheraton some skin time too this month.
I did not know that. So who pitched the first game at Exhibition Stadium? (I'll check my vault for one of his cards!)
Jerry Johnson was the winning pitcher in the first game ever played at Exibition Stadium. The Jays won 1-0 on the a snow cover field. The jays had to borrow the zamboni from the Toronto Maple Leafs to clear the field.

We take Zamboni's very seriously up here you know. There's more than one popular song lamenting this fine ice resurfacing machine!!
I know, I know. I have great respect for you all. So much that I went and married one! (A Canadian that is, not a Zamboni!)

I rejoined OCtober with my GEM OCMM. I worked on taming this one in September with good results. I tried it again early this month with mixed results. After a few days of sticking to GEM shavers I picked it back up. Much better, super close with two tiny weepers. Perhaps a little too close according to the Alum block but no burn or irritation. I'll stay focused on this one for a little while. T&H PSO AOS Lavender Cream T&H Wellington Super Badger GEM OCMM GEM SS (3) Osma Alum Block AOS Lavender After Shave Balm Happy shaving - Karl
