OCtober 2015 - Discuss OC Safety razors

Don, after many years with one razor, an OS mug, and drug store shave pucks & brushes, I'm enjoying some of the finer things, you bet. Unfortunately, the Goat's Milk Soap is not one of them. Putting it in a Shave Stick helped a little but it still lathered poorly and the skin care is for the birds. I would of loved it 30 years ago. Thanks for your very kind words.

I'm in stitches. My boss is the same way at work. And SWMBO......

 

I checked out the El Druida brushes. I would be hard pressed to decide between him and Wolf Whiskers. They both have some beautiful pieces. Speaking of beautiful pieces... I'm waiting on a knot for a handle I did a deal for with Jim, @Jayaruh. It's JR #24. I knick named it "The Rook" because it reminded me of a chess piece from one of our chess sets. I stained it in what I call Mediterranean Olive and coated it with a few layeres of waterborne poly. Nice and shiny. I'll post pics after I set the knot... WD 24mm Silver Tip.

The Williams Mug Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #27 Silver Tip brush. First pass with my Merkur 15c Open Comb razor with a Personna Super blade followed by second pass with the Gillette Aristocrat (1947 Birth Year Razor) gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Lilac Vegetal after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

 

two days left,I had two more open combs.
I was supposed to use:
con/rad open comb razor. it has a brass plated head and a bakelite handle. it is a two piece razor. the handle is very light.
but, sorry guys,I bailed. my hand felt uncooperative, so I went a different direction. I actually used the Berkeley Custom Shaver.
I'm to understand, that the con/rad is similar to a barbasol razor.

while I didn't use it today,I wanted to submit it anyway for the oc discussion.

 

Sweet! The Wolfman's got a new handle. A gorgeous classic!

 

Thank you Mark. Having another handle from Toby, I knew his workmanship is top notch. However, when I unwrapped this one, I was blown away by the attention to detail. I am sure you understand the feeling.

 

They are. They're just peculiar. This morning, Jeff had me use the same piece of tape over four times.
I told him we're a Fortune 500 company. I think they can afford it.

 

That's OK David. You'll just have to use twice next year.

 

Just in time to close out OCtober, I had my first shave with my new lather catcher today. It's a beautiful 1902 Kampfe Star with the Y teeth for a comb. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and it gave a very smooth, great shave.

Another great shave with this combo - not a Grand Slam but at least a double with the bases loaded to tie the game!



World Series Game 3

Some great baseball teams have rallied back from trailing 2 - 0 in the WS to eventually win the Series. In fact, it’s only happened 11 times, and coincidently, two of those 11 teams are playing in this WS and did it in back-to-back years (KC - 1985; NYM - 1986).

No team has come back from a 3 - 0 game deficit.
