My NEW LC's all have names. My first one came in a PIF from Mountainsea and is in a beautiful monogrammed leather zipped travel case. The name on the case is Walter Rosenberg. Therfore that razor became Walter for short. My next NEW LC is an heirloom razor from my spouses side of the family. When Aunt Betty's husband passed, she gave me his razors. The NEW LC is now known as Uncle Bob. When I received my next NEW LC, he was pretty beat up, thus he became Scruffy. I might have to start naming my other razors.

Oct 2 OC Focus Another fine shave again this morning. This OC razor is a real treat to use. The weight and balance are spot on,
October 2 Razor: 20s Old Type Blade: Astra SS (2) Much closer than yesterday's shave, though I think I overcompensated a bit on technique as I ended up with a couple of small weepers and some neck irritation. No more ATG on the neck for a while, though XTG on the cheeks/jaw worked very nicely. Will see if I can pull it all together tomorrow.
Second shave with the Float-O-Flex. Same good, close shave. It's aggressive but I still don't feel that the flexing head really makes any difference - good or bad
YMMV...but I took Billy's advice on both the Chinese blades and the angle of attack and now I really like my C1. It will become my travel razor, which means 3 - 6 shaves a month for me. An additional plus is the ability to push the potential of this razor by experimenting with the blade angle...in time. Thanks Billie!
Today I'll be trying the type B OC again but with a smoother sharper blade, a Schick blade. I'll update this evening with details on the shave. Hopefully it won''t be a bloodbath. I've had poor shaves for 3days in a row now and I'm ready for comfort again.
October 2, 2015 OC October - This month I'll introduce myself to my OCs. Gillette New LC Gillette Goodwill Standard Safety Razor OC Hot Shower, Morning Shave Soap: Razorock P160 Brush: Omega Pro 48 Razor: Gillette New LC Blade: Gillette 7 o’clock (Blues) (2) TSD Witch Hazel Aftershave: Myrsol Blue Two-pass shave (XTG,ATG). Initial thoughts: I spent May, June and July learning with a Gillette”fat handle” Tech, eventually getting consistent CCS. After using adjustables in August and SEs in September, today was like getting together with a good, ol’ friend. It wasn’t the Tech, but very close to it in feel and handling. The result though, was amazing. So good that I went on the chase and with just a buff or two in a couple of my usual trouble spots I think I was as clean as could be. Mind you it was just 20 hours since my last shave, but this shave cleared everything that had returned in that time. I usually miss at least one shave on the weekend so it will still have its test, though I’d be shocked if there’s a problem. Everything about this shave was smooth, sharp and efficient - soap, blade and razor. Feedback nearly silent, but just enough to let me know it was working. 6 hours later…not a sign of a whisker returning. My face is very smooth and I’m very pleased after my debacle with the defective MMOC yesterday. At some point this month I may even attempt a one-pass shave with this set-up. Cheers! RT
Very neat and creative. I think I'll give mine female names because that's the only thing, besides a razor, I want gently touching my face!
That's a really good question. My Wolfman is with the standard blade gap. After only 9 shaves with the Wolfman, I would say that it is equal to the Mongoose with a Feather Pro blade in closeness and how long the shaves last. With a Feather Super Blade, the Mongoose wins with the same criteria but is not as forgiving. I waiting until I spend some more time with the razor before deciding to have James increase the blade gap on the Wolfman. As it stands today I am very satisfied.
Dove Men Face Wash Col. Conk Amber Shave Soap Jayaruh #18 Silver Tip Gillette NEW SC/Micromatic Bullet-tip * 1947 BYR Personna SS/GEM Stainless CWR, Asma Alum Block Thayers Lemon WH Pinaud Lilac Vegetal Since this is my birth month, I am using my birth year razors for one of the two passes. The Col. Conk Amber Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #1 Silver Tip brush. First pass with the Gillette SC NEW followed by second pass with my Micromatic Bullet-tip razor and a GEM Stainless Single Edge blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Lilac Vegetal as an after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
Wait, this isn't OC-tober, in Ohio it's... Sorry, couldn't resist. Even shaving is better with bacon!
