October 30, 2016 Wolfman WR-01 Ti OC with Hempel Ti Personna 74 (1) Elite Razor “Tres Amigos” Beehive with Envy White Reef Point Dragon’s Blood Witch Hazel Fine Platinum Aftershave While continuing with OC October, I am starting part of next month's focus today. @Boojum1 , Mark sent me a couple of vintage Personna 74 blades to try. Thank you Mark for the opportunity. They were made from Tungsten Steel and many report them to be exceptional long lasting. So with that in mind, I loaded the Personna 74 into the Wolfman OC with increased blade gap and proceeded with my normal morning shave. The blade had a similar face feel to a modern Feather while being perhaps a touch smoother. Sticking with traditional 3 pass shave and minimal touch ups ended in a my normal near BBS. Overall I would grade the shave as a solid "A" for smoothness and closeness. Finished with a splash of Fine Platinum. I hope everyone has a fantastic Sunday

Razor: Gillette Goodwill 1930's Ball End Open Comb (Made in Canada) w/Hempel Handle Blade: Feather Platinum (3) Brush: Elite Razor "Tres Amigos" Desert Ironwood Beehive w/Envy White Soap: Route 66 Cavendish Aftershave: Floid After Shave. OCtober Focus Today is my final shave in my OCtober focus. It's been a great month using some OC razors that haven't had much attention and my Timeless OC. The Gillette OC and Gillette Goodwill 1930's Ball End both turned out to provide excellent shaves. My blades where Gillette Silver Blue, Platinum, and Feather Platinum. The blades all performed outstanding. The extra work with the Timeless OC, not to mention some good advice from members went from good shaves to great shaves. The using of different handles provided excellent feeling between stainless steel, aluminum, and Ti and how they helped or took away from great shaves with different heads. All in all learned very much and had a good time reading posts and getting advice. Thanks one and all.
Great picture Doug. I've enjoyed following your posts this month as you tried the different handles and razors.
Thanks Clint, and thank you for your advice on shaving with the Timeless OC 0.95. It was much appreciated.
October 31, 2016 Wolfman WR-01 Ti OC with Hempel Ti Personna 74 (2) Elite Razor “Tres Amigos” Beehive with Envy White MdC Fougere Witch Hazel Fine Lavender Aftershave Whipped Shea Butter Ended OCtober with another great shave. Everything just worked well together. Finished with a splash of Fine Lavender and I think I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great Monday.
My recap and observations from Open Comb October. During the month, I used 4 open comb DE razors. Each of the 4 delivered excellent shave when I did my part. In particular the Timeless OC with 0.95 blade gap and the Wolfman with the increased blade gap, deliver shaves comparable to shaves I get with SE razors. I prefer OC razors to the solid bar DE razors because I find them more efficient. I enjoyed following the posts this month. The variety of OC razors used through the month provided a never ending series of eye candy. Luckily I have managed to keep my RAD in check. Take care and thank you for participating.

I finished off OCtober with my Gillette New. Lathered Proraso Blue cream with my synthetic Omega Hi-Brush which I haven't used for some time. PolSilver on its fourth shave, one ATG pass with minor buffing gave me a BBS shave. For the month I used my Gillette and the 1904 and am particularly fond of both. They will be seeing regular use in my rotation of razors as both of these have become favorites. I'm an open comb fan. The 1904 performed very well after switching to my go to blade, PolSilver. I have loved and admired each of your set ups and photos thanks for another beautiful OCtober to all. Don
Razor: Mongoose B2 w/Custom Made Handle (England) Blade: Feather Pro (1) Brush: Elite Razor "Tres Amigos" Desert Ironwood Beehive w/Envy White Soap: Route 66 Cavendish Aftershave: Folsom Shambala Although the handle looks like it may be slippery, I found just the opposite. The Mongoose shaved very close and comfortable, with the only draw back being a build up of lather in the baseplate slots. The posts that secure the blade are short, however, it was not difficult to load and secure the blade. Happy Halloween!!!
SOTN OCtober 31 Merkur 15C Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Stainless (2)(Green Russian) Satin Tip The Purest La Toja (Loaded from bowl) Crown King Scuttle Homemade Lime AS Good morning friends, after a weeks vacation I'm glad to be back! Last night I had my second shave with the Merkur 15c / 7 O'C SS combo. I must say I really really like this blade. It is very sharp and smooth. It works well in the mild 15C but I bet in a more aggressive razor it would be even better. La Toja as always made a very nice super slick lather and the fact that it stays warm in my scuttle is even better. A great finish to a relaxing week+ off. Have a great day my friends!
This is old Jim, but does the frankenrazor with the NEW bottom plate and TECH top cap shave differently ? I ask because I have a LC with no top cap. I can't find it.
