    October 1 SOTD:

    Razor: Gillette New LC
    Blade: Voskhod
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft
    Lather: CO Bigelow
    Aftershave: Proraso Green
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Unscented PSB

The LC is a great way to start off OCtober. I did two easy passes for a DFS using some CO Bigelow. I don't how it could get much better. I hope everyone has a great day!

OK, I didn't know we were doing razor porn today. I will oblige:

Straights - the ultimate open comb. Yeah, I know it's kind of cheating, but I'm gonna shave some with straights this month anyway.

For the start of OCtober, out comes the MonoBilt. I also broke out the new handle I made, with a small Omega boar in it. It will become a travel brush for me, but want a couple of shaves on it to try to break it in a bit. Didn’t go with any odds and ends this morning, but rather with the Blood on Steel. Got a fantastic lather in the bowl with this little boar and went to work on the weekend’s stubble. Went with whatever blade was left in there (I’ll look tomorrow morning when I bin it) and had 3 great passes. Did ‘jump’ the razor a bit on the side of my Adam’s Apple and ended up with a weeper, but besides that, had a perfect shave. 3 passes with this assassin definitely isn’t my norm, and I’m probably dealing with a few less layers of skin than I started the day out with, but I feel pretty awesome.
    Have a great day all!

Some great reports and shots to start us off right this month, gentlemen! As Randy said, some real razor porn in there, including his own photos. I find it interesting btw how much the design and proportions of the Gillette Tuckaway you used, Randy, mimic the earlier Probak razor -- made by a rival company Gillette bought out.

    Razor: Gillette New SC
    Blade: German Wilkie (2)
    Brush: 30 DC LE/Pure Badger
    Soap: Williams
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

So here we are at the start of a new month. My left hand seems to be healing well from Friday's surgery, though I can't remove the bandages until Wednesday. As a result, I had to shower with my hand wrapped in plastic which I kept in place through the shave. The New SC and German Wilkie had no issue with the three days of beard and seem to be a good combination. I find that I need to go with a slightly milder blade with this razor than I would with, say, a Tech otherwise there is too much blade feel for me.

I've got enough OC razors that it should be a good month:
    • Thin cap OT
    • Thick cap OT
    • Unbranded Single Ring clone (I may try a shim with this one as it was a bit harsh last time)
    • New LC
    • New SC
    • English Flat Bottom New
    • Yaqi DOC
I've also got the core of a Criterion New DeLuxe but no knob or cap. Anybody have spares or know if it is possible to remove the neck and use the baseplate like a regular New DeLuxe?

Also, I picked up a parts lot from eBay, so I may have a spare New LC later in the week for someone who really wants to try one.

Glad to hear your hand is healing well, John. Keeping surgical areas dry while staying clean yourself can be a real pain in the butt...

Yes, the LC is a great way to start a month, Jim! Or in the middle, or to end it, actually...
Glad to hear the hand is healing, John. A fine collection of tools for the month!
