I decided to pull out the L'Occitane Cade shave soap this morning. I left the soap dry but did soak the brush while I showered. After shaking out the excess water I started to load the brush adding water to soap and/or brush as I went. I suds and soap spilling over the edge of the container gathering on my hand. After loading the brush I rubbed this excess suds, lather and soap into my beard and began face lathering. The end result was enough lather for 3 full passes and a fourth pass on my neck. The brush still had enough lather for another pass or two. During the shave the lather was more than slick enough. Residual slickness was sufficient for completing touch ups after rubbing a wet hand across the area. I did weight the soap before starting and will weigh it again after it completely dries. Another drama free BBS shave in the books. I will say that the 7 O'clock Yellow blades do require a good deal more work on shave # 2&3 than the Feather blades. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

    Proraso PS Red
    PAA PS - Cube 2.0
    MWF
    WWB w/Zenith Boar
    Friodur 5/8
    PAA Star Jelly ASB
    Brut Black Cologne Spray

3 pass DFS+ Another great shave day. The Friodur blade (with scales replaced by gssixgun) is almost as smooth shaving as the Kamisori I used yesterday. Since Glen did this blade's honing less than a month ago, all I've been doing is linen/strop maintenance (and very little). This steel holds it's edge quite nicely so far. I'm trying to replicate an experiment Glen did back in 2009 (!) with only edge maintenance and no honing. Glen went 70+ shaves on an edge with just pasted strops and linen before throwing in the towel. I'm at 5 shaves so far.

The MWF....while it is very nice (and absolutely will stay in my den), it is a noticeable difference from the Proraso PS and Proraso Single Line SC used yesterday. MWF is a further difference than using one of my top 3 favorites, a PAA PS/SS combination. I'm one who tests the skin feel in between swipes, particularly when I use open blades (which is almost 99% of the time now). With the Proraso PS and MWF, the after swipe skin feel on the first pass was 'very clean, almost sticky' (similar to Arko skin feel, NOT blade/lather performance). On the second pass, skin feel (no PS this time) was even more 'sticky'. Most times when the skin feel is this clean feeling, I'm thinking it's time to not use that SC/SS again (Arko). However, for the 3rd pass, I applied the PAA Cube 2.0 PS, then lathered over with the MWF....after the 3rd swipe (some with buffing), the skin feel was noticeably better and slicker. Followed up with a hot towel to clean all the bits/pieces of left over MWF, and then went with PAA Star Jelly ASB, and a new acquisition, Brut Black Cologne Spray (a wifey declared favorite this morning, BONUS).

Didn't put too much detail in my 'I'm In' post. I don't have any OC razors to use for October. So, I'm in for MWF on MWF. Forgot to weigh the dish this morning. I'll weigh it on Friday, then again at the end of October. Each use number....not my OCD department.

Hope everyone has a Wonderful Wednesday!

Hmm, the SS is typically a pretty mild, easy going razor. Make sure the doors a holding right when you close them. I have a British Flare Tip Rocket where the doors loosen up while I shave, and it definitely changes the razor. Have you seen the thread on riding the cap (should this be a sticky @RyX)? It really has some good discussion on this technique.

    October 2 SOTD:

    Razor: PAA Ascension SS
    Blade: Personna Blue
    Brush: PAA The Green Ray
    Lather: PAA Cavendish
    Aftershave: PAA Cavendish

It was a quick shave this morning, as I had to get everything together to leave back to Lumberton for the last time. Two passes and DFS, and I capped it off with a nice splash of Cavendish AS.

The house it packed and they are going to start loading it up today. We will hang around for a couple of days cleaning up and packing the stuff they don't take. We are heading back to Houston on Friday. Things will start to get to the new normal. I hope everyone has a great day!

Wow, Blair! Beautiful scales and love the brush with it! Excellent!

I picked up the original cube some time ago. I haven't tried it yet. I've been waiting until my bar of Stirling pre shave soap is used up. Never ending bar of soap. I've used it with every shave since May of last year and it's still going. The Cube 3.0 may be out before I get through V1.0.

No OC for a while. Nice to see all the Fat Fotos.
Bloomed the soap today and the results were better. Richer, fuller, more satisfying...oh wait, that was my coffee.

Quick shave on a busy day. We're getting some work done this morning on a couple of 90-day punch list items on the house. I'm meeting a buddy for lunch, and then we're going on a couple of distillery tours - Jeptha Creed and Bulleit. Other than being crazy hot for October, it will be a fun day.

Enjoy your shaves, gents, and let's try to stay on topic. ;)
