As far as I know, you can buy the handle and put in your own knot. The handle is 42.50, but he charges 5.00 for shipping.

    OCtober with the FAT

    October 4

Razor - Gillette New LC Delta Echo
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip
    Post - Alum

Whew! What a Friday. Cooler weather has settled in and things were busy - and a bit crazy today. I know I wander into areas of the greater STL area that most will never have the "joy" of experiencing, but today I spent about 50% of my time there. Highlights? Well there was the delivery to the Homer G. Phillips retirement apartments - which was originally the first hospital West of the Mississippi to train African-American doctors. Lots of history in a grand old building sitting squarely in the middle of a horrible neighborhood. Still, the building is in fantastic shape behind its security fences etc. On the way there with the delivery I encountered an elderly couple from Nebraska with a fairly new white Cadillac that had dropped them in a much less than desirable area. I have no idea why they were there, I just know that the car that circled behind and around as I was pulling up on the intersection was quite interested in that couple and/or their car. Some local neighborhood greeting committee types. So, I pulled in behind the Caddy as the other car pulled in front. I stepped out and just gave them my best look behind my sunglasses and they decided to drive on. The couple was waiting on AAA and fortunately the truck showed up about 2 minutes later. I encouraged them to plan trips through STL better in the future and never, never, never, stand outside their car with flashers on when in areas that should set off some concern. Seriously. Ever been in a city before, folks?

So, anyway, after coming home and being scolded by Jennifer for "putting myself at risk", as she puts it (I prefer being a good Samaritan) we had dinner and it's time to shave. It's Friday so out comes the FAT!! Weighed the puck. After the last shave it was 300 grams. Tonight - 299. Apparently 1 gram of water evaporated out in two days. Good enough. The Wolf was fantastic with its Silvertip knot and I easily whipped up more lather than I could possibly use. A fresh blade went into the New LC in its Delta Echo look. This was the first raffle item I ever won here so it has lots of history and it's a great razor to boot! Three passes knocked it down to smooth, no blood, quiet alum an just a great shave. Ok, let's weigh the puck. I made a TON of lather. So....final weight.........299 grams.

Huh?! I know we talked about water going into the puck affecting weight. I thought the soak the other night added all it might take. Well, apparently not. I started with 299 grams and ended there. The question - how much water did the brush put back in? So, I'm changing protocol to play with this. I'm going to use MWF exclusively for awhile to see how the numbers work out. Call me curious but I've gotta know.

Hope you had a good Friday as well even if it didn't involve tourists trying to get robbed. Here's to a great weekend!!

Andrew, you are kidding, right! 7-11 is a national mini mart chain that sells brewed coffee. I am sure they have 7-11 stores in Colorado.

Ugh, been there my friend. Not fun! About 1 year ago we had a series of system failures and I only got 6 (2 hours at a time) hours of sleep in 72 hours.

Nice shave, pic and post, Neal! Glad your street smarts kicked in to help that couple. I think you would survive the bad sections of NYC.

I'm looking at those names wondering how they will help keep things on topic. I see problems. Although, yes, we need them back to keep the shenanigans rolling for sure! One of the interesting things about herding this bunch of cats is watching as different characters move in and out from time to time. But we all keep coming back in the end. Variety is the spice of life. Of course, given the particular characters in that list - a fine by the Cartel for negligence to duties wouldn't be totally out of line.

Thanks. I don't think I'll share that comment with Jennifer, though. LOL She worries about me. I have spent too much time working in the bad spots with ADT in particular to not have them figured out. My usual working theory is - if I just treat everyone like a person and do my thing and act like I belong I end up fine.

Grabbed my OC then built the shave around it. Carbon steel blade (4) still good for a few more from the feel of it . Sometimes the simple things in life reward you with the most pleasure.

Well, I might add that you better not speak in my neck of the woods, because they will know that you're an out-of-towner and think that you are an easy mark. Now, I know that's not true, but why tempt it. Lol!
