    OCtober with the FAT

    October 6

Razor - Gillette New LC Delta Echo
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Brush - The I*V 10 - Moreau
    Post - Alum

It's a Sunday and a relaxing one for a change. We went to an orchard today and got some fresh apples, homemade apple butter and a jar of homemade peach/habanero jam. We had found some of that at Costco once and love it on pork. I'm a glutton for habanero peppers, and have suffered for it many times over many years. Should be good stuff. Dinner at Red Lobster tonight and home to shave. Head shave with the Merkur 23c/Astra and VDH soap and brush. No issues at all. Time for the main event.

My 299 gram tub of Mitchell's still weighed 299 at the start of the shave. I chose the "Moreau" brush. The hybrid boar/badger is incredibly dense and wonderful to lather with. I took it to the Fat like I hated it. Loaded up and got a fantastic lather out of it. Seriously, this knot from AP Shaveco is one of the best I've ever found. I could switch all my handles to this knot and be a very happy camper. Well, ok, so I'd keep a synth or two, but yeah, the hybrid is that good. Three passes with the LC and Sharp Star and I am smooth as silk and no blood either, as I avoided horizontal shaving tonight. You don't have to teach me the hard way more than once. Or twice. Alum was quiet and all's well. Cue-ball head and baby smooth face and neck. Great way to wrap up a very fun and relaxing day.

Weighed the tub and......298!!! I managed to drop a gram. I'll stick with it another day, as it is Monday tomorrow for MWF/MWF. After that I'll go back to MWF for the soap and only weigh it at the beginning of each shave. We'll see if I see some consistent usage at that point.

Have a fantastic start to your week!!

Generally Electric Sheep is found to be a polarizing scent. I hate citronella enough to never consider the aftershave, but I won't toss my sample into the tub that contains the dirty hippie girl, dirt naps, grungy bars, or freshly licked ashtrays. Might even buy another sample size when gone. My friend the Wiley Unicorn @PickledNorthern used to use the Electric Sheep out fishing in locations where skeeter strikes commonly fouled jet aircraft.

Are you trying to insinuate that my poor shave is NOT the fault of the razor in my hand? How dare you!

    Open.... (something) October

This razor is my first straight. It was in the mystery box I won in a TSD raffle. It was only sharp enough to butter toast when I got it, but having it in my hands was enough to help me realize I could learn the ways of the Dark Side.

After learning to shave with a straight, I wanted to learn how to create and maintain an edge on a razor. The Wagner Rat Razor would be my first challenge.

Recently I had it on my new convexed coticule, and wanted to see what I could come up with.

The tool is small, light, difficult to use without file jimps. It is a capable tool and does shave better than ever. I'm happy with that. It will never be something I use regularly.

Barbershop scent is not my thing. Not bad enough to toss. Not good enough for a restock order.

    Good shave.

Nice shave, Bill! I can understand why the razor wouldn't be in your rotation due to the small width. Also, I would imagine you would have to do an X pattern to hone the blade because of the uneven width.

Your plating is very interesting to follow along to, Evan. The LC is a fantastic shaver.
That brush looks stellar, Patrick! Very original as well.
Love that V2 for sure, Mark. Keeping the V1?
High praise indeed for the knot, Neal. Off to check it out.
I’m about same on the Barbershop, Bill. MrsSpartan liked it, though...
