The guy on the video I watched this morning did quite well. He just had one nick, and reacted quietly to it, like "uh", then proceeded on.

I think you should shave with whatever tool you want. Is there a learning curve? Mos def©, but like anything in life, you'll never know until you try. We'll support you all we can.

I really apppreciate that, Joseph. As my mom frequently said..."we live and learn".

Congrats on a desire to go open edge.

I like Charlie's recommendations, except I'd suggest a Schick injector over a DE as a first step away from a Disposable.

I went to straights before shavettes. Not having to worry about maintaining the edge on a straight is a huge advantage for shavettes. I vote with Charlie on that one.

Thank you Paul. However, every experienced straight shaver would have given the same advice. It really is logical. I remember when I rode a trike and how I thought I was a big boy and eventually went through the normal progression of riding a bike with training wheels and then a small 24 inch and then a 26 inch bike. The day I got that 26 inch golden bike was awesome. It is the same idea with shaving. Do you think that I would have started out using my 10/8 Mad Max as a straight razor newbie. No way! I started with a 5/8 round point and gradually went to larger blades with small incremental increases until I felt comfortable to try a 10/8 blade. This took 1.5 years that totaled 335 open blade shaves of experience before I did my first Mad Max shave. You have a good goal Paul, but you need to put in the work with the right progression to safely get there. Straights are no joke. I have sliced both pinkies because of my carelessness so I learned the hard way. As you know, I got a BBS shave with a single edge razor today and quite honestly it was better than some of my straight shaves. So, you can get a very close shave without using a straight razor. I always have said that straight shaving is fun, but I also respect the tool. Stay well amigo.

Nicks and cuts happen when anyone uses any razor. I am sure the guy goes through 95% of his shaves without nicking himself. Remember, weepers are different because they don't form scars.

I disagree about the Schick Injector over the DE, but lately, I have been doing that lately. Lol! How are you doing Bill? Also, I am Joe, not Charlie, but that's ok, just don't call me late for dinner. Lol!

A very nice combination of Oud and Sandalwood which accompanied Dragonsblood in the forefront of the soap and splash. I have enjoyed the Oud fragrance since my introduction to it while using the RR Stallion.

The MMBT is such a fine shave. I find that the two MM’s that I have in my den deliver some of the closest shave of any of my razors. Today shave was superb. Another three pass, which I could easily been satisfied with two passes, has left me feeling super smooth along with my wife’s Seal of Approval.

    Have a great day.

Monday again....it seems to come way too soon. Back with the MWF on MWF. The Fat seemed to work better today with the boar brush. Of course it could be imagination. Three passes and touch ups ended in a near miss. Operator error on my lower left neck let the little guy escape. I hope everyone has a great Monday.
