I love Open Comb OCtober. Many of my favorite DE razors are open comb. I will be rotating through various OC razors through the month. @Droo78 Andrew inspired me to revisit MWF soap. I will also do a mini focus with MWF using it 6 days a week until I get it dialed in. I loaded the MWF like it owed me money and was 90 days past due. I began face lathering and thought I had a good to great lather. However, it seemed to dissipate as during each pass. Before the 3rd and final pass, I spent more time face lathering while adding water slowly. The results were much better. Lesson learned, I will spend more time tomorrow developing the lather. The shave in comparison was uneventful. Three passes and touch ups ended in a drama free BBS. I hope everyone has a great Thursday.

Awesome shave this morning with Above the Tie. R2 plate, Figaro and the Shark took care of business. No blood loss which is always a good thing. Hope everyone has a great day!

ETHOS Succès~~Thäter 4125/2~~Fatip Lo Storto Originale/Wizamet Super Iridium
OCtober and out come many open comb razors. I am down with that,
especially because I am expecting a new OC razor to be delivered tomorrow.
Today, however, let's start the month off with a very inexpensive OC from the Italian manufacturer, Fatip.
Lo Storto Originale. Translated: The original twisted.
Yes, the razor is an open comb slant.
The blade is torqued equally on both sides of the razor.
The blade now slices à la Guillotine.
There is, and will continue to be, considerable debate on the shave fora,
whether or not this is actually a necessity, seeing that it is easily replicated
by every normal DE, by angling the razor head and drawing straight down.
I have owned many slants and this is the only exemplar remaining in my shave den.
It gives a great shave and in the end, that's all that counts.
The ETHOS Succès lathered well, although in my attempt to face-lather,
I took a small amount of soap and smeared it directly on the knot.
It didn't breakup nor distribute well over my face, leaving small clumps of soap.
I had more success taking the soap and pressing it at the bottom of my shave bowl.
Second day with the Wizamet and it still performed very well.
Once again, I will extol the virtues of this soap. ATG pass on my notoriously sensitive neck
is possible without tugging or irritation.
The matching skin food splash is a wonderful compliment to the shave soap.
    Have a great month!

    Thank you, gentlemen!

Cool! I don't have much experience with rangefinder cameras. But i do enjoy my Olympus XA, and i've tried a FED 2. Lots of old soviet cameras around here.

    Excellent shaves, gents!

SOTD THURSDAY MORNING, OCTOBER 1, 2020

The new C-Mon Special arrived yesterday, and like many vintage razors required a bit of a touch up. The edge was chipped requiring a new bevel set and the blade is not centering. As one friend (@Trigger) at TSD mentioned, after honing this C-Mon is now “wicked” sharp! What some might call ‘whisker-melting’ sharp. It systematically reduced my facial stubble in three buttery smooth passes (WTG, ATG, XTG) leaving me smooth clean and velveteen! I really like this razor. Still need to work on the blade-centering issue! When I began my dome shave, I remembered why I like the LaResche 51 so much. It plowed effortlessly through my noggin stubble shearing it right down to the skin line leaving me with a velveteen smooth dome to match my mug! Just a fabulous shave this morning to kick off Open Comb October!

RAZOR: C-Mon Special 11/16 (Mug), LaResche 51 (Dome)
    BLADE: Polsilver
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by Argan Oil
    BRUSH: Viking Silvertip Badger
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Pre de Provence Bergamot & Thyme Balm.

I hope you get the MWF dialed in, Clint. I find that I spend more time lather building with it than any other soap I have. Excellent shave setup today! Guerlain Vetiver is a great finish.
