Interesting... Are there any commercial products available for this specific purpose or was this formula developed by wet shavers on this and other forums. Also, if that is the case, how did you come up with the formula. (Experimentation of course) I agree, but do you mix it in a squirt bottle to apply or do you use some other container... I'm still not convinced I'll give it a try, but I do find it intriging... Enjoy your shave...
am i getting this right, youre putting the castor oil IN this mixture. and then ON your face?? no. castor oil is for the hair. the hair.
most of the resources I looked at, it was developed as a natural cleaning method, as opposed to the chemical-laden cleansers out there. I'll see if I can't find some of the links I read, but no, it's not specifically a wet shaver's thing. before soap, oils were used to clean the skin (maybe not by all). This wasn't made shave related. and thats all I know
To add... I use an old hair conditioner bottle, specifically Aveda Rosemary Mint, and here's why: it's transparent, it's 8 oz, and it has a screw on top of the type where you press down with your thumb to open. I had picked up a small, blue plastic bottle with a pump. I found it difficult to use in the shower, that's why I tried the conditioner bottle. Any bottle you feel will suit your needs will be fine. It just so happened that the Aveda bottle emptied at the right time. Comercially available products: I don't know of any, although I'm sure if you search hard enough, especially at Natural Foods types of stores, you may find something. HTH....keep the questions coming!
commercial products for OCM (but at higher cost, of course): http://www.shuuemura-usa.com/product...?ProductID=688 http://www.dhccare.com/DHC/ProductDe...atalog=DHC+USA

For me, the only patience involved is needing to make a new batch every couple of weeks or so. Apply early in shower, rinse off last, rubbing face gently with fingertips, then massaging beard area while warm/hot water runs over my face. I know it's not quite what some of the websites listed say, but that's what works for me. You know, burnWood. But if your face soaps do a dang good job, why change?
when you only do it 2-3 times a week*, the time spent balances out, and it's a nice part of the shave ritual when you do it *unless you wear makeup, then it's daily....you don't wear makeup, do you?:happy097
??? referencing my sig or the link? if it's the sig, it references my "date code" if I were a Gillette razor...
ahem....I do it daily and I don't wear makeup... Well, if I happen to skip a shower (which I will always skip the shave), then I don't do it...but that rarely happens but I also don't do the full on steaming with a hot towel and wiping clean thing, either....basically instead of using soap to wash my face in the shower, I use the OCM...

That's a good idea, putting it on in the shower. I was sometimes too impatient to do the canonical approach; but, when I did, it seemed to work well. I'll be digging out my concoctions and giving it another whirl...
Never used a face cleanser before (soap works perfectly ) so, naturally, I also haven't tried the OCM method. But its good to hear it works
Good to hear it. Hope it works out for ya... :happy088 Soap dries my face out so bad, then my skin over produces oil and it becomes oily. I wish I could just use soap.
I picked up a few things at the pharmacy this afternoon. I'm going to give OCM a whirl for a week or so.
