I know I haven't, and I haven't heard of anyone doing it. Not to say it wasn't tried. You can always try it and report back to us!

I would think the straight (liquid?) lanolin would be on the pore-clogging side. Besides, the oils soften the skin enough to me, I don't think you'd need anything else to soften it even more....

    I think i will give it a whirl, its a sheep thing....:happy102.

Truckman do you have any recommendation regarding the amount you would add to your recipe below? Would you replace one of the ones mentioned or perhaps add the lanolin to that recipe like it is an essential oil, small quantities??

    My latest recipe:
    1 oz. Castor Oil
    1 oz. Sweet Almond Oil
    1½ oz. Jojoba Oil
    1½ oz. Grapeseed Oil

I have no idea. How much do you use in other applications? Maybe start with a few drops? Maybe 1/4 or 1/2 oz.? Your guess is as good as mine....

What is it that you're not getting out of your current blend that makes you want to try the lanolin?

I hav'nt got around to starting the OCM yet. Ive been busy as a one legged man.......I have no doubt that the recipes you & others mention are more than good enough.

I hear that lanolin is good for the hide too. However, I have no idea if or how well it will mix & or if too many "oils" is not a good thing??

    Its a sheep thing

I did try liquid lanolin in a mix once, did not like it. I thought that maybe because of lanolin's skin benefits it would help, but it doesn't help in a skin cleansing routine....neither did glycerin
yeah, it seems to be more a detriment than a benefit for me

so, to answer the question, yes, it has been tried, and no I didn't like it, however....

    burnWood, YMMV, etc.

if you're itching to try it, go for it and let us know how it does for you

I've been using the OCM (in the shower version, like Matt) for several weeks now and it's working pretty well. I've been getting a bit dry in th T-Zone for the last week. I've cut back to about 20% CO to 80% EVOO, but am still dry and flaky under my eyes. I'm guessing this could just be some hay fever kicking in (and an after effect of the Clariton I've been taking).

Has anyone else experienced this? Any thoughts or suggestions? I love the OCM!

    I just made up my first batch;

    30ml castor oil
    30ml jojaba oil
    120ml EVOO
A few drops of tea tree EO

I will give it a whirl in the morning.

Im really glad I saw this thread. I am going to try this out. I have had such good results with plain ole olive oil. I really think this olive oil is a keystone in my shave

I have heard great things about grape seed oil, and jojoba oil. I wonder if rosehip oil would be benefical to this concoction.

Are these oils availabe in stores like CVS or Wal mart or do I need to find a website that offers these

CVS or Walmart, no, probably not. I haven't been able to. If you want to shop locally, your best bet would be a natural foods store. I pick up my Castor Oil locally, but ordered the Jojoba, Grapeseed, and Sweet Almond oils as a set from Amazon.com - it was a great price for the amount of oils, but that was several months ago. I'm not sure what they're offering right now...

    Well i did my first OCM this morning.The brew is ;

    30ml castor oil
    30ml jojaba oil
    120ml EVOO
A few drops of tea tree EO

I applied it in the shower & massaged / rinsed off at the end & then shaved. I shaved with the same gear as yesterday. The only difference is today was day 4 on the feather. The shave went very well & i reckon the moisturizing effect of the OCM increased razor glide.

My skin feels really good. I will use this batch & monitor things for a while to see if i need to tweak the ingredients in any way.

Jimmyfingers, i have castor & jojoba on order from the web. yesterday arvo SWMBO called and asked me to get some bread on my way home. I pulled into a HEB supermarket & grabbed a loaf & noticed that the section next to the bakery sells the organic oils / toiletries etc, Bingo, i was in like Flynn.

I would definately have a look around locally before you order online.

    My current brew:

    3 parts Olive Oil
    3 parts Sweet Almond oil

    3 parts Jojoba Oil
    2 parts Grapeseed oil
    2 parts Avocado oil
2 drops of Melaleuca (Tea Tree) Oil (be careful...too much and the smell is overpowering!!!)
    4 drops of peppermint oil

I am a big believer in giving credit where credit is due...this concoction was heavily inspired by Leisureguy’s Last-Pass Shaving Oil.

What is the measurement of a "part" Kevin?

Whatever you want a part to be... For me when I mix, a part is 1 oz. But if you want to make a huge vat of it, you can use 1cup=1part... :D :happy102

  17. sol92258

sol92258 I have no earthly idea

depends on whose "parts" you're measuring.....

    What I did is used a tablespoon....So 3 parts I used 3 tablespoons.
i went through the list above and the bottle was less than half full so I did it all again until the bottle was full. The actual amount you use will depend on the container size you use but the parts gives you how much of each ingredient you need relative to the total.
Hope I explained that right. Maybe someone can do a better job.
