I ordered the Silver Tip from Larry back on the 20th. I am beginning to wonder if the flooding in Texas has delayed it. According to tracking it took four days to get from Arlington to Coppel. It was expected to be delivered on the 26th, but here it is the 28th and no knot. My OWH is getting anxious.
I had the same problem the last time I ordered from WD. Days delay. There must be a black hole between Arlington and Coppel.
Kudos to all...fantastic works. I have a 24mm Extra Density Finest Badger Hair Knot for Shaving Brush by Frank Shaving coming from China. Concerning the handle, being a woodworker, I am a little disappointed in the handle. There are numerous "gouge marks" from the lathe turning process. Also, more than half of the handle is sapwood which means it has no grain or markings...just a dull and will not have any character. I may or may not be using this handle.
I was thinking of going the China route, but I thought, "For just a couple of dollars extra I can get it from Larry and have it here in a few days."
I am happy to announce the arrival of my WD Silver Tip Badger knot. First thing I did was do a dry fit. Next, I did the de-funk thing. I decided that I may put a nickel in the bottom to give me a little more loft. This is going to be a great brush. I can tell already.
Here it is. I epoxied in the knot along with a nickel to raise the loft a bit. I will be using it for the first time Sunday morning along with another first timer: Soap Commander Synergy Shaving Soap. A sample was piffed to me by @RayC1993 from MA.
hi guys, I'm a little late to the party. sorry about that but it couldn't be helped.(Texas rain) I've admired the beautiful brushes that have been made with these handles. and the ones prior to our group buy. it thrills me to think that the wood in these brushes was grown in a part of the world where the Lord Jesus may have walked. the olive wood itself is very nice on the eyes. I thought long on what knot to pair it with. whipped dog was high in the running. but I currently have two silvertips and a high mountain white on the way. One of my favorites comes from @GDCarrington , it's a custom two band he set in my grandfather's rubberset, along with refurbishing its handle with a proprietary enhancement to its finish. so I turned to him. those custom two band were no longer available, but he advised that he did have a two band finest suitable for the job. all credit for this build belongs to Gary. he finished, weighted, and fitted the two band custom to the handle. it is currently at the post office, waiting for me. I can't wait to get it in my hand. and because Gary takes so nice pictures I can post here and now. so without further ado, here's my olive wood handle group build contribution.
