Thanks Gents! Since I had to wait for the humidity to drop to an acceptable level to apply coating and epoxy, I decided to bore out the center and provide a little bit of weighting. Even a small amount when uniformly applied makes a big difference in how the finished brush feels.

David, enjoy it in the very best of health!

    thank you Gary.
it can be seen in tomorrow's sotd.
I've received it and began to defunk it.
it feels great in the hand. thanks for adding the ballast, I think it gives a luxurious feel. the knot is spot on, soft yet enough backbone to be easy to lather.
    great work.

Need help with a problem fitting knot in handle. I bought 3 silvertip knots from Virginia Seng on the bay. They are 23.5mm. The base of the knot (the 1/4 inch hard base) fits fine but that's all that will go into the handle. Any suggestions. It would seem to me that with the opening in the handle at 25mm, the knot shouldn't have any problem sliding into the handle.

Pictures would help. You can either reduce the size of the plug or increase the size of the hole. It probably won't take much either way. If you choose to reduce the diameter of the plug be sure to cover the knot well to protect it from dust. If you decide to widen the hole a bit be sure to protect the exposed wood with a thin layer of epoxy before setting the knot. That's my two cents.

Thanks. I'm increasing the size of the hole using coarse sand paper. It's slow going but it seems to be working.
