Open Comb Central - The Place With Real Teeth (No R41, Hybrid or Closed Combs)

Had to freshen up the old mug tonight before the YL gets home. So, I grabbed the Phoenix Dbl OC that arrived yesterday and a new feather blade. Took it for a spin with some Amici.
It's not a slant OC but I got a great shave, close and smooth, being it's #2 shave today.
I like it, yea, nice razor, the wife will approve.

 

I can't wait until next month so I can give my NEW it's maiden shave and join y'all.

Not my favorite soap Williams, but it does the job when properly used. My Schöne with a feather blade does s good job on a second shave for tonight. The Omega brush needed some use so.....

Kind of a frankin razor but a great second shave of the day. A West Coast Shaving open comb head on a Razorock handle, Feather blade, Amici and a nice brush. Last 2 a days for a while, so I can go back to only morning shave.

 

Wondering if a brass Gem Junior pat. 1912 is concidered a open comb, closed comb, or a hybird?

Well the existence of the Damaskeene OC implies that the usual Damaskeene isn't an open comb, so the 1912 cannot be either. I don't believe hybrid is a thing, if it's not open it's closed . Don't get me started on the R41.

New Long Comb/PolSilver (3). Handle is a bit heavy but I prefer it to stock CBH or Tech Fat Handle which are too light for good balance. I order some tungsten putty to add some heft to both.The Long Comb is a nice smooth shave if not quite as good as the SC ATG on my head. I may prefer it anyway.

Every time I use this razor I wonder how it got its aggressive reputation.
It's efficient and assertive but if aggression is your bag, I'd suggest the 1924 or Streamline, I found both harder to learn than this intuitive little marvel.

Where would you put the Eclipse Red Ring.
It definitely shaves like an OC, plenty of residual slickness left for pick ups.
