Question...if a shaving newb asked you describe the basic shave differences between the head of an Old type and the head of a New, how would you put it?

There is more than one New head..the curved bottom plate of the Short Comb is closer in its configuration to the Old Type than the Long Comb and New Deluxe. What they have in common are slotted baseplate and corner recesses, neither of which actually impacts the shave. The Short Comb being the more rigid design also shaves more like the OT than the others. As they all have more gap than the OT they have a greater range of usable angles.

Got this Gem OCMM in bad shape but the price was low $8 inc shipping.
Had to do a lot of cleaning but the head cleaned up just fine.
Tried it out this morning. 20180927_215107.jpg How did it go??
    Well...
I had a small blemish on my right cheek that I could always shave over no matter what blade or razor I used. Noticed the wording HAD a small blemish. Didn't even feel it, just flattened it right out. Also got me on the neck once, just a weeper.
    WoW!
Close shave, but man oh man!
    I was not expecting this.
I use the same blades in the gem jr and get no way near the wisker cutting action of this bad boy.
I have a good bit of learning to do on this one.
Looks like I'm gona have to get a whip and chair to tame this razor.
Gona let my unblemish heal, get back in the cage next week. Me and Gem jr will ride together till then.

    Well......
Geting up this morning feeling my oats so to speak I went for it again. Yea yea I know but you said you were gona wait.
No I just couldn't walk off like I just lost my best freind so...
Using RR Mudder Focker shaving cream, I thought that would set the stage, and a full badger brush. I was able to get a DFS and no blood letting or nasty things like that. Yes I will be carful with the OCMM but avoid it?? I think not. It's to nice of a razor and nice close shave.
Now waiting on the blades for my RR black hawk to get here.
    Oh well....
    Full RAD ahead;)

Schone / Chinese Wilkinson. Smooth, efficient. Hard to fault.

Do you have a regular OC FaTip? If so how do they compare?

I have a Mk1 Piccolo and the Gentile. The Schone is much smoother than the Mk1 but comparable in efficiency. My understanding is that the Schone head differs from the Mk2 Piccolo/Grande only in the number/width of the teeth. There should not be much difference at all.

Oh and alignment and finish are quite good. Kind of ridiculous at about $23.

Fun shave with the Grand Self Lubricating Razor. I found it mild like most have said, but a very comfortable shave after 2 passes. I’m a fan of the looks and the performance. :happy088:

Schone-SLOC, Barbaros Bohin handle. The SLOC cap increases cap span a bit but the no gap situation is retained. More aggressive in feel, but still smooth. Chinese Wilkinson. Almost no clean ups necessary after the usual two passes. Wow.[IMG][IMG]

I have a Piccolo but I don't know if it's an mk1 or 2. How do you tell the difference?
