Open Comb Central - The Place With Real Teeth (No R41, Hybrid or Closed Combs)

Got a new one today.
1921 Gillette in Silver

 

I finally got around to trying out my Letesche #51. Why did I wait? This is a beautiful razor that shaves very nice. I have many OC razors, from a Single Ring, several New LC and SC, a Grand Shave King, etc. My Grand Shave King has a new rival for my favorite OC. I got a beautiful BBS three pass shave on the first try. I love how this razor balances with it's fairly heavy handle. It has just the right amount of aggression and was easy to find the sweet spot. I like it!

Going to spend the month of June exploring some Open Comb razors.

There are some reasons why the Letreche 51 is often considered one of the best vintage DE razors ever made
Now you just have to catch them all... Leresche 77, Red Ring Eclipse, Barbasol FH, Kirby Beard, Bohin, etc

An ATT head?

 

Yes, I have an ATT M2 and R2 head on loan from a really good friend.

Top Left is New LC. Top Right is New Deluxe Red and Black.
Bottom Left is ATT with Triad. Bottom Right is Old Type.

I am going to run each of the 5 razors with the Triad handle for one week starting tomorrow for my June Focus. If I really like the New Deluxe I am thinking of sending it off for replating.

 

That New Deluxe is on my short list of razors to get.

Gillette New Improved.

Good smooth razor. Shaved to me like the New LC. Just weight and handle made it a little more efficient. I like.

Thanks. I'm going to jump on Wiki and see what the aggressive rating is on it today. It's not too bad, but I think the weight gives it an edge over the LC New.

OK, I can see the gold in this picture. Again, beautiful. I would love to have one in my collection.

 

I wish I could have got it with case, but it's just solo. I have a Bostonian coming too. Wondering how different the two are. It'll be fun finding out.
