Sometimes amazing shaves come from the simplest, most cost effective combinations. I don't remember how long I've had this razor, nor how it ended up with the gold Tech handle on it, but I may have bought it that way.

I've spent multi-hundreds on high end, stainless steel and titanium "latest and greatest" in pursuit of shaving Nirvana, then I load up a Treet black carbon steel blade in my Gillette New long comb with Tech handle and proceed to have a fantastic, smooth, comfortable, no-irritation shave at a total outlay of <$20.

Carbon steel blades have a different feel than laser sharp, coated stainless steel blades. But a carbon steel blade would have been what was used in this razor in its day. The Treet black gives me a great first shave, and are cheap enough to toss after. Even with drying the blade between shaves, the second shave is not nearly as good. But why bother when you don't have to. Life is too short and blades too plentiful.

Truthfully, I could have bought just this razor and a few hundred Treet blacks at .03 cents a blade and be done with my search for shaving Nirvana
