Hello folks, here's my OC SOTD for this morning-

1909 Gillette ABC set Scroll handle old type.
Crystal super platinum blade.
Simpsons Duke II pure badger.
Nivea post shave balm.
Trumpers GFT shave cream.
Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve splash.
4711 cologne.



This ABC set was the first full interior restoration that I ever did. It is also the first complete true ABC set I ever owned. If you had seen it when I first got it, you would have thought I am crazy for buying it. It had lain in a shed in Minnesota for what I suspect was 70 years or so. Under something that kept it wet the entire time. The inner trays had to be built from scratch. The hinges were nearly seized. The whole set was completely black from filth and corrosion.
I took my time and rebuilt the trays from cardboard and balsa wood. I soaked the case in dawn/hot water for several days, then polished it all with mothers mag and aluminum polish. Once I did all that, I lined the new trays with velvet and put together the set you see now. It was a very satisfying project. And it shaves great too! It has the stamped brass/wide toothed baseplate, which makes it a super efficient shaver. Today's shave scored out as a two pass BBS! Thanks for letting me share. Have s great day all!

My Old Russian Open Comb made in early 1950's

 

Since there are not any pictures, I am forced to believe that you just found the razor at an antique store in excellent condition. Seriously though, your razor and case look great. Was the razor in bad condition as well or just the case?
