Well heck, there it is! I suppose I'll just have to disregard my own personal experiences with both soaps.
Well once again we cross into the subjective world of shaving products....but I'm not sure about the whole "far better value" of Tabac over MWF. Both are 4.4 oz. pucks and Tabac is 19.50, or $4.43 per oz, while MWF is 15.99 or $3.63 per oz. Both pucks last, apparently, forever. I do understand the scent difference though, although MWF smells very nice to me. But, so does Tabac. Just different.
you make some very astute and cogent points regarding the two soaps. Both are quite similar in many respects—cost and value, as you described. The MWF can be challenging to lather if undersaturated, but then again the scent of Tabac I find very challenging to my nose.
For those who like MWF, Pour un Homme de Caron is the closest thing to a matching aftershave/cologne. The scent has been around since 1934, so it's a classic (and older than Old Spice).
Changed my mind for good. Did a "taste" test the last few days. MWF just a bit better in every category other than ease of lather although I don't have any trouble lathering fat at all. And I have hard water. Plus MWF does actually taste better.
